Ch.12

Kayden's P.O.V

I watched as Dereck walked over to a sleeping Peyton and laid down beside her. He put his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. With her eyes still closed she moved her head so that it was laying on his chest and smiled a little. He was messing with her hair for a while as she was sleeping until he to fell asleep. I went and turned the lamp off beside the bed and walked out of the room and headed to my own.

Just as I walked out of their room I bumped into someone, and we both fell to the ground. I looked up and saw a girl who had bright firetruck red hair and breath taking brown eyes. I reached out my hand to try and help her up, she ignored my hand and stood up on her own.

"Watch out where your walking. Jerk!" She yelled at me.

"You watch out where your walking" I yelled back.

She walked past me, purposely bumping her shoulder against mine. I was about to go after her when a group of huge, tattooed me came storming up the stairs. Hunters. Using my vampire speed I sped to Derecks room. I opened the door, slid inside and locked it with the chain. I sped around the room picking up anything useful and anything we might need and stuffed it into Peyton's bag.

"Wake up! We need to leave. Now!" I yelled.

"What the heck Kayden" Dereck replied.

I was about to reply, when the bedroom door flew open and five of the huge, tattooed men stormed in. Three of them pulled a wooden stake out of their jackets. Dereck looked at me and then back to Peyton. I nodded my head, telling him that I knew a fight was going to break out any moment now. Dereck leaned to wake up Peyton and I started to hit the first guy to my left.

Derecks P.O.V

"Peyton! Babe, wake up!" I yelled as i gently shook her.

Her eyes flew open and she started at one of the guys going against Kayden.

"Dereck! Behind you!" She yelled.

I turned around just as one of the guys were about to put a stake through my heart. I grabbed the mans arm and twisted it until the stake fell out of his hand and I heard bones breaking. The man cried out in pain, I let go of him and sped around the backside of him, grabbed his neck and snapped it, instantly killing him.

I ran back towards Peyton who looked at me with the greatest amount of fear in her eyes. I walked towards her she flinched and moved slightly back away from me. I stopped where I was and looked at her.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to move or even flinch, I'm not afraid of you" she told me.

I nodded my head and moved towards her once again. This time she stayed where she was and didn't flinch as I came near her.

Another stake flew past my head and landed in the wall. I quickly told Peyton to stay behind me as we walked to the corner of the room. I stayed in front of her as the hunter who threw the stake came towards me I looked over at Kayden, who had finished off one of them and currently was trying to take the last two, except the one in front of me.

He swung first, but I was quicker and ducked so that he would miss. After that I managed to land a punch square in the jaw. After a few more hits he was on the floor with me on top of him. I looked over just as Kayden snapped the hunters neck.

"Dereck! Move!" I heard Peyton yell.

I looked back at the hunter I was on top of and seen that he had pulled a gun out. He pulled the trigger and four wooden billets went into my chest. Two of them were so close to my heart that when I would breath I could feel them scraping up against it. I looked over at Peyton before I went unconscious.
