Ch. 17

Peyton's P.O.V

When I woke up all of last nights events replayed in my head. I looked down and seen the small black writing on the inside of my wrist. I smiled and tried to roll over, but a strong arm was holding me in place. The grip loosened and I was able to face a sleeping Dereck beside me. I stared at him admiring his beautiful face. With his eyes still closed he said,

"Quit staring. It's creepy."

I rolled my eyes and snuggled closer to him. We laid in silence for a while before he opened his eyes and stared down at me.

"Who's staring now?" I teased.

He didn't say anything; instead he lowered his mouth to mine and kissed me. We kissed until I pulled back to catch my breath. Dereck grabbed my wrist and traced his fingers over the small lettering that spelled out his name. He looked over at me and smiled.

"Does this mean we are together?" I asked.

"We have always been together." He replied and then kissed me again. That was how our morning went until there was a knock on the door, and Kayden came in with Xavier behind him.

"We leave in thirty..." Xavier said and then he and Kayden walked back out of the room. I gave Dereck one last kiss and got off the bed and walked over to where my bag lay. I opened it up and grabbed my skinny jeans and red tank top along with my bra and underwear and walked into the bathroom to take a quick shower.

After my shower we walked down the hall to Kaydens room. We went over the plan one last time and then we were on our way. It took us an hour and a half including stops to use the bathroom to get there. Once we got there Xavier did the spell and we split up. Me, Kayden and Dereck go towards the front while the others go towards the back. Dereck gave me a gun, while him and Kayden just use their vampire abilities. We approached the door and Dereck and Kayden sped to the two guards, guarding the doors and killed them. We opened the doors and went inside the castle. Once we were inside we were instantly surrounded by people in black suits and had guns.

Kayden sped around and killed all of them before they even had the choice to shoot. We started upstairs and went through different hallways until we came to a set of huge, golden doors. Kaydens phone rang and we stopped. Kayden answered the phone and talked to the person on the line for a few minuets before he hung up. He looked over at us and said,

"All the others have killed all guards, the only ones left are the ones in the room along with the Queen and King."

Dereck pulled the doors open and we walked inside. Inside the room two people were sitting on huge chairs and there were two guards on each side of the two people. Kayden and Dereck both sped to the guards on each side and killed them and then sped back to my side.

"Dereck! Wonderful to see you son." The man said.

"Why do you keep sending hunters after me? You know I don't want to be king." Dereck said.

"We need you to be King. I have already chosen a young lady worthy of being Queen. Lexi come out dear." The woman said.

After she said that a girl with long black hair and red eyes walked out from behind her.

"Hello Dereck." she said.

Dereck ignored her and turned to his mother. " If I would choose to be King, I already have a Queen." he said as he pulled me closer to his side.

The woman rolled her eyes. "Ahh yes the human. You are supposed to be dead." she said.

"But she isn't and the problem we have here is that you tried to kill her. We will be on our way if you give us your word you will stop sending hunters and that Peyton will be safe." Kayden spoke up.

"I don't think so." The man said and with that Lexi sped over to Kayden and threw him against the wall and Dereck pushed me behind him as the man sped down off his chair and landed in front of Dereck.

"Move Dereck. There is no need for you to die, shes just a pathetic human." The man said.

I looked over and saw that Kayden was up and he was sneaking up behind Lexi and he had a piece of wood. He motioned for me to be quiet and then once he was close enough to her, he staked her through the heart. Lexi let out a gasp and then fell to the floor dead. Kayden sped over to the woman, still sitting in the chair and grabbed her from behind.

"Let us walk out of here and you'll both live to see another day." Kayden said.

The man put his hands up in surrender as he backed away from me and Dereck. Kayden pulled the woman out of her chair and held the stake against her back. Once we got to the door he instructed for them to keep the door closed until we were off the island. We walked out of the door and closed it behind us. Dereck grabbed a hold of my hand and we sped out of the castle. We got outside and slowed down. We were almost off the island when gunshots were heard. Dereck and Kayden turned around at the same time I felt something wet on my stomach, I looked down and seen that it was me that had been shot. I fell to the ground and seen Kayden stake the Queen. Dereck looked back at me and realized that I had been shot.

"Peyton!" Dereck yelled.

He sped back and was at my side in a second.

"I love you." I whispered before I fell unconscious.
