Chapter 21: Zero

It wasn't hard for them to spot their teacher at the bar.

He was sitting next to the librarian, which Luke suddenly felt a shiver go down his spine. 

Oh shit! He's in trouble for stealing that book from the library, isn't he?

Meggy started to move, which snapped Luke out of his thoughts and went after her.

"Please, have a seat." Mr. Unus gestured towards the other side of the booth he was in.

Luke awkwardly shuffled into the booth with Meggy, who just slid in. Luke's nerves were at an all-time high.

"Thank you," Mr. Unus lowered his head, the lighting made only one eye visible from his glasses. "One more thing, you can't tell anyone about this. What happens here, stays here. Do you understand?"

Luke quickly nodded his head, while Meggy gave a verbal response. "Of course."

"Good." He said, the librarian put a hand onto Mr. Unus's arm.

Luke never really paid a lot of attention to the librarian's appearance before, most of the time their hair covered the right side of their face. But now, their hair was pulled back, the right side of their face was scarred, and their eye was covered with an eyepatch.

Now that Luke thought for a moment, he's never seen Mr. Unus wear anything with short sleeves, he's never even Mr. Unus roll up his sleeves as well.

"Where do we even begin?" Mr. Unus looked at the librarian.

"From the beginning." They smirked. "How about we start with our names. No human down here goes by their real name, too dangerous if Zer0 finds out." The librarian explained. 

"They came up with our names." Mr. Unus's cheeks turned a little pink, seemingly embarrassed about it. "But down here, in the Newgrounds. I'm known as Uno, and their known as Duo."   

Luke felt like someone had given him a lost piece of a puzzle. Zer0, Three, and Mr. Unus and the librarian were basically One and Two based on their code names. 'Do they even know about Three?' He thought to himself. 

"Mr. Un- I mean, Uno..." Meggy quickly corrected. "How did you know that we were interacting with vampires?"

Duo chuckled. "Well, your friend in blue isn't very good at keeping his voice low." Meggy turned towards Luke, he sunk down in the booth a little. "But I also couldn't help but notice that a book on vampires also disappeared." 

Luke felt heat rising up in his cheeks. Meggy growled. "You did what?"

Luke held up his hand in defense. "Woah, Woah, Woah. What was I supposed to do? Embarrass myself trying to explain why I was suddenly interested in an old worn-down book about a creature that most people believe aren't real?"

"I can't believe you Glitchy." Meggy huffed in a low voice.

"Right." Uno snapped both Luke's and Meggy's attention back to him. "Now with that out of the way... shall we continue with our story?

Both Meggy and Luke nodded. "Good, glad that's taken care of." Duo said. "Gosh, how long ago was it? Fifteen years?" They asked Uno.

Uno nodded. "Fifteen years, Six months, 3 days, and 22 hours ago. I remember that's when my watch broke while we were being attacked."

"Yeah, Uno and I were out with a good friend of ours we were heading back from a long tiring day and that's when Zer0 showed up."

Uno took over, he sounded like he was growling. "He came at me first, with long claws that even to this day, there are still scars there. Duo and our friend, Nick tried to tackle him off."
