Chapter 25: Show stoppers

Author's note: Welp; it was only a matter of time before the ticking bomb would go off...

and also, for me to make a whole bunch of references to Splatoon; just because I can.

The Spice Fest kicked off with a small band Desti had never heard before; C-side. They did however play a song she was familiar with, 'Now or Never!' a very fitting song to start of this Spice Fest.

C-side played one more song before another band took over; 'Triple Dip'. Meggy let out a "Whoo!" When they started to play that song. Desti giggled, guess she was a fan. 

After a band played; there was a short intermission between them, most likely to get everything set up for the next one.

Off the Hook was playing next and Desti couldn't be more excited.

Meggy seemed to take notice in Desti's excitement. "Big Off the Hook fan, I'm guess?" She smirked, putting her hands on her hips.

Desti looked over. "I haven't seen them play in so long." She explained. "They really inspired me to be myself." Desti said more softly. 

Tari let out a coo. "That's so sweet."

The show lights came back on. "Hey there spice goers!" A voice shouted; Desti could easily recognize it as Pearl's, although a little bit older. "Are you ready to rock!?"

The crowd cheered. Terrance had put on his headphones; he was warned earlier by Desti about Pearl's volume.

The curtain lifted and there they were on stage, with Pearl wearing her iconic crown, with a pink and yellow tie-die hoodie with a silver chain on the front, white platform shoes that sparkled under the light, and she had golden rings on her fingers.  

Marina was wearing a white tank top with a matching silver chain on the front, headphones that glowed teal in the dark with a white headband around it, long teal leggings, flat white shoes, and a golden ring on her ring finger.

Hearing them sing again was made Desti feel like she was in 2006 again; the last time she heard them play, it was their biggest, most talked about concert, mainly because, Pearl proposed to Marina.

During one of Off the Hook's songs, "Ebb and Flow" Meggy couldn't help but look at Desti. She seemed like she was about to cry, Meggy thought back to what Desti had said earlier.

'They haven't gone on tour since 2012... If Desti is about the same age as me, she would have been about a preteen... When she spoke earlier, it sounded like she went to the concert herself, there's no way someone would have let their daughter do that... right?' Meggy lifted her head to face Desti, who was still enwrapped in listening to the music.

'I'm probably over thinking things...' Meggy sighed, she should be enjoying herself. Not worrying about what a cute girl said.

The music died down. Both musicians took a bow. "Alright," The white hair singer, Pearl spoke. "As most of you know, we haven't been playing and releasing new music since 2012. Well, that's because we have a family now." 

The crowd let out cheers of congratulations. Pearl soaked in all the cheers; Marina blushed in the background. "Thank you, thank you. You're all too kind." Marina spoke. "We thought it would be fun to preform again since the Spice Festival was happening here near our hometown."  

"We're still retired, but that doesn't mean we're gone forever." Pearl winked. "Anyways, have a great rest of your night."

Pearl and Marina stood next to each other before doing their iconic pose. "Don't get cooked, stay off the hook!" The two of them said at the same time.
