Back in Paris, France, Spider-Man seamlessly web-swings across town, still perplexed by the discoveries he had witnessed in the alley. Catching his breath from the brawl that occurred, Peter rests on a rooftop to change back into his civilian attire.
Peter: (In his head) "How did something so regular as thwarting thugs turn into a "magic is real" phenomenon? I thought my little playdate with Mysterio proved it was all a hoax. No matter, whoever those people were, whatever kind of puzzle this is, I'll crack it tonight. For now, it's almost suppertime."
Parker leaps off the building and lands in his classic Spidey stance, in front of his host-family's bakery, where Marinette patiently sits in her desktop chair until Pete appears in her room.
Marinette: "There you are Peter, where've you been?!"
Peter: "I just went to get my..."
And so, Pete realized after all that trouble, he never actually recovered his computer. Same old forgetfulness.
Peter: "Laptop... right. Got a little sidetracked."
Marinette: "What we're you doing out there?"
Peter: "Crazy story, so I was off to get it, but then there were these runaway crooks, so I went to check it out, and the next thing I knew, there was Spider-Man!"
Marinette: "Spider-Man? You... You know him?"
Peter: "Heck yeah I do, I take his picture for the Daily Bugle. How do you like them apples?"
Dupain-Cheng flips through some of the high-def photos Spidey snapped while stopping the robbers' heist. One shows Spider-Man leg sweeping one of the thieves. Another picture shows the part of the fight where the Web-Slinger webbed up the third burglar in a net, all snapshots taken from a Birds Eye view.
Marinette: "Whoa. You took these?"
Peter: "Every single shot."
Marinette: "But... I've never even heard of Spider-Man? What's he like?"
Peter: "Oh, well, Spidey's awesome. He's got spider powers, and he uses them to fight crime, save people, bring justice and whatnot."
Hearing Parker's description of the Web-Head, Marinette feels guilty for attacking Spider-Man, mistaking him for an Akumatized vigilante.
Marinette: "Oh, so he's a superhero. You... don't say."
Peter: "I mean, sure, his methods are questionable to some communities, and I wouldn't exactly call him a role model, but he always gets the job done."
The last photograph in the pile is of Spidey's spontaneous clash with Chat Noir and Ladybug, the part when were webbed together.
Peter: "Oh yeah, there were also these two kids wearing cat and polkadot costumes."
Marinette: "That's Ladybug and Cat Noir; they're our city's superher-"
Sabine: (From downstairs) "Marinette, did you unload the laundry like you promised?"
Marinette: (Sigh) "No, sorry mom. I'll get right on it."
Peter: "Hey, mind if I use your computer? I wanna try emailing these pictures to the paper."
Marinette: "No, not at all."
Sabine: "Marinette!"
Marinette: "Coming Mom."
Peter: (In his head) "But first, to find a reliable source that'll explain this crazy rabbit hole. And lucky for our generation, the Internet makes a convenient shovel."
After Mari leaves, Parker turns on her monitor to Google the duo on the Internet. After Peter types "Who is Ladybug and Cat Noir?", the first search result that appears is the link to Alya's LadyBlog.
Peter: "LadyBlog? Sounds like that blog Alya mentioned at school."
Curious, Peter clicks on the webpage, and a video plays with Alya voicing it over.
Alya: "Meet Ladybug and Cat Noir, Protectors of Paris, and Superheroes of Creation and Destruction. They're the duo that defends our city from the terror brought to us by the big, bad, Hawk Moth. So, what's this feud all about anyway? I'll give you the answer: It's all about... the Miraculous."
Peter: "The Miraculous?"
Alya: "The Miraculouses are magical jewels that grant their wearer a special costume and superpower. According to these paintings and sculptures from the Louvre Museum, many heroes throughout history have worn a Miraculous during many of its wars, such as Joan of Arc, and Napoleon Bonaparte. We don't know how many Miraculouses there are, but we do know that Ladybug and Cat Noir wear the most powerful ones: The Ladybug Miraculous of Creation, and the Cat Miraculous of Destruction. Hawk Moth owns the Butterfly Miraculous, which gives him the power to manipulate a person's negative emotions and grant them their own superpower using a magical butterfly called an Akuma. Whenever you feel a strong negative emotion like sadness, anger, even jealousy, you could be at risk of being akumatized. The reason Hawk Moth akumatizes people to attack Paris is because he wants them to bring him Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous-" (Inaudible dialogue)
Horrified by Hawk Moth's characterization, Peter's eyes widen listening the rest of the video.
Peter: (In his head) "Oh my god, and I thought traffic and real estate was crazy in Manhattan, but things are even more serious here."
The scene automatically cuts to Peter and the Dupain-Cheng family together at the dinner table, eating a homemade French cuisine.
Peter: "Soooo, what kind of dish is this?"
Sabine: "It's my special homemade pineapple quiche. Try it. I promise you'll like it."
Parker jabs the quiche with his fork and takes a bite off his plate. As he savors his food, Pete finds himself enjoying his host-mother lovely meal
Peter: "Hmm, not bad. I'll make room for seconds."
Sabine: "I knew you'd like it."
Tom: "I absolutely love your manners. Your parents must've raised you very well."
Peter: "Honestly, I never really knew my parents that well. Hadn't seen them since before their big plane crash, so my Aunt May and Uncle Ben took me in and raised me from there. Then one day, my uncle got shot. Never saw him again."
Sabine and Tom look sympathetically at each other with their hearts heavy listening Peter's poignant words. They had no idea how much loss and tragedy he must've faced in his past.
Marinette: "Oh, your uncle? I'm... so sorry."
Peter: "It's fine, I'll always have my Aunt May. Still, it's been a while since I lived with a whole family. You guys already have that aspect sorted."
Sabine: "I had no idea you were an orphan."
Tom: "Don't you worry, Peter. We promise to help you relive the joy of having not one, but two loving parents."
Sabine: "And, Marinette can be like your sister. Right, darling?"
Marinette: "Of course, we'll make you feel right at home Pete. We'll be like one big happy family."
Peter: "Umm, thanks Marinette. That... really means a lot."
