Patrick gasped for air, his eyes stung, his entire body hurt. He breathed deeply, he opened his eyes and sat up. The sun was shining down on him through the clouds and rain, hard pouring rain coming from the dark clouds. He rubbed his eyes, trying to remember what just happened to him. Alex. He thought, he leaned on his knees and tears fell from his eyes, thunder boomed in the distance.
The memories came rushing back to him, Alex getting stuck in the car and pushing him out the window. Then blanking and hearing an unfamiliar voice. Patrick wasn't one to believe in the supernatural, but this... this may have made him believe in it. He didn't know what happened under the water or how he managed to survive the water. He'd for sure thought he would've died.
Slowly getting to his feet. He pushed back his messy hair, he stumbled as he rose, turning to look over his shoulder to see where he was. The river in between him and the other side. Patrick saw a silhouette of someone on the other side, as if watching him. Patrick froze, a jolt of fear circling through his body, the ocean was to his right. The breeze from it almost made him forget what he'd been through.
When Patrick looked back, the figure was gone. He wanted to run, but his feet remained frozen, he was still comprehending the death of Alex. Another breeze hit him, blowing his hair. Patrick's chest rose and fell, his eyes watered up, maybe it was from the breeze or the fact that he'd just lost Alex.
He felt his heart sink into the deepest part of his chest, he didn't know where he'd go. Or how to tell Alex's parents that he's dead and he survived. He stood still, frozen by the questions that he didn't know the answers to, or even how to start to answer them.
Patrick walked to the water standing near it, but he never dared to go into it. He never wanted Alex to die, nor did he ever want to fall into the river and end up on the outskirts of London.
He'd felt nothing as he was trying to swim up to the surface. How was it he is alive. He'd thought he died. Yet here he was standing there and Alex wasn't. Patrick just felt empty. He felt the most alone he'd ever felt. Alex had been with him since they were young, at the age where they made friends left and right and hung out with other people constantly. Alex had been with Patrick since then.
Now he was just... gone. Just like that. Patrick imagined the headlines when they found Alex's body, if they ever did.
He glanced over his shoulder and fear struck him again. A shadow emerged from the wall, Patrick ran, he ran down the riverside.
Running away from the ocean towards the land, he ran until he couldn't anymore. The shadow was still chasing him, it was horrifying, the way it moved, the way it ran and the way it jumped into walls and moved through walls.
Patrick held his hands up to fight it. The shadow lunged at him from the wall, instead of biting into him, a glint of silver flew past him, as he leaned back to dodge the attack. The shadow bit into the weapon instead, "boom." A voice said to his left.
White flooded his vision and his eyes shut, his hand shielded his eyes from the bright light. The white slowly faded and he felt hands grab his shoulders, his eyes shot open, pushing the hands off of him and getting to his feet quickly.
A person... no a girl, stood, straightening her back, "Jesus, have a little thanks." She snapped.
Patrick noticed a lot about the girl before he even spoke, the first thing was her eyes weren't a color that existed in this world, golden, her eyes were a shade of gold, her ears stuck out a little bit more than normal, her hair was an odd shade of dark brown with white highlights in the front and lastly what she was wearing. She wasn't wearing anything that Patrick would consider normal for this day and age, she was wearing a dark blue dress that went down to her shins, a white corset that he'd only seen in movies, black armor on her chest, a pair of black boots and a single glove. On her right hand, "sorry, love." He sighed, looking away, "thank you, for saving me, but I really should be going. I've already cost you this much trouble." He said, turning his back to her and walking away.
