Welt had taken a seat against the tree, he stared at the sky, there were three moons visible reflecting light down, Patrick remained standing, looking down at the blind man, "do you think we're walking to our deaths?" He asked, his eyes remained fixated on Welt's jaw.
He clenched his jaw and took off his glasses, folding them and putting them in his pocket, "I... I am unsure. And I actually don't have a plan."
Patrick rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, "great. Since when does Welt Matthews not have a plan. I thought you always had a plan?"
Welt scoffed, looking at the surrounding area, "since when we were trapped in the cave after the dragon left. And I'm coming up with one right now. If you'd only be quiet because I'm thinking."
"Of what?" Patrick sat on the ground against a tree that was slightly more to the right then directly across from him, "you know what I don't even want to know." He shook his head.
"Well, since you asked, I may as well just tell you. Possibilities, all the outcomes that could occur if we did certain things." He tapped his fingers on his thigh, "and I am also regaining energy to use my Dreamer while I sit. Koda probably has our friends now, so... you see where I'm going with this one."
"Oh yeah... definitely let Toby die. Jesus, have I told you about our first encounter? So bloody crabby!" He said, his voice getting louder as he spoke.
The blind man shifted himself on the ground, "I don't think I can do that, Patrick. Sorry." He muttered, his lips shifting upwards forming a slight smile.
"You'd rather die than have him die?" Welt nodded, "Mr. Matthews... seriously, I can't believe you. You'd rather die than get rid of that asshole."
He pursed his lips, "I do not wish ill upon anyone but myself."
"You sound like someone from the olden days, you know like the early nineteen hundreds."
Welt frowned, "you were close to the nineteen hundreds?"
"Yeah, my universe was in the twenty-first century." He raised his arms and opened his hands.
"Jesus... my dimension was all the way in the thirtieth century. Did you have like... actually electronic devices that you like... uh- tapped on?"
"Yeah, we did. Did you hear of the Covid outbreak too?"
"I'm familiar with it, yeah. In my dimension, we had uh- chips that go into our brains at birth that give us knowledge about... well anything, once you learn it you could never forget it. Only the semi-rich could afford it, so maybe that's why I was so smart growing up and into college. Or maybe that's why I graduated college in three years with my masters."
Patrick whistled, "that sounds... pretty bloody awesome, mate." He laughed, "I wish my dimension had that too."
"It could one day." He sighed, "so you could say... I'm the closest thing you could see to a robot. If only it was used for more good than evil. Many... gangs emerged because of this. They knew how to pick safes and never forget becoming rich and their children could get the implants too, my parents worked really hard for the life they received, both were in the fields of science, making quite a bit of money. My two elder brothers, my younger sister and myself of course, when we were all born... got the implant, so if I ever return I will thank my parents for the life they've given me."
"Do you think you'd ever return?" He raised an eyebrow, "Wait, don't answer that question, I already know the answer. And is this why you can use your Dreamer unlike anyone else?"
"Yes. I've retained the necessary knowledge to do so. As I did everything to make the whole planet go boom." The blind man shaped a rainbow with his hands, "so if I wanted to, I could possibly add chemistry and nuclear physics to my arsenal of weapons." He looked at Patrick staring at him for a moment before glancing, "wait... I use chemistry in some of the knives and bullets that the crew uses. They exploded into light, which is really just neon mixed with hydrogen and rubidium. Rubidium, if you've heard, is very reactive with other elements. Hydrogen reacts with the rubidium causing it to explode which then makes the neon into really bright light."
