Chapter Six - A Black Tie Event

Jade and Leroy found themselves at the bottom of a tall, glass spire. Arguably one of the biggest buildings in the city.

The 'Grave Shipping' main office building.

"You ready?" Jade asked Leroy.

"Me? I was born ready." He grinned cockily.

As the two of them entered the building they were greeted by none other than Mark Hadgrave.

"Welcome, it's great to see that you two... 'friends' could make it. Oh that reminds me, we haven't been fully acquainted yet." He formed his face into a sickly smile. "My name is Mark Hadgrave but you already know that...and you are?"

"Jade." Jade smiled faint heartedly in reply.

"Leroy." Leroy nodded.

Mark waited for them to inform him of their last names but he had no such luck.

"Well then. Jade...Leroy. Welcome to the main office building of 'Grave Shipping'. The fastest and most reliable shipping company in Europe. Apologise for my brothers absence. He unfortunately had other engagements."

Jade and Leroy remained silent but still smiled to not come across as being rude.

"I must say...." He continued "You two look every...ravishing this evening." He smirked as he stared straight into Jade's eyes.

A woman suddenly appeared and requested to talk to Mark about the 'presentation' he was going to be showing the guests later. With a quick apology, Mark left Jade and Leroy to mingle about the party by themselves. As he left a shiver ran down Jade's spine.

"Eugh....what a creep."

"Who still says 'ravishing' these days?" Leroy pondered, his face twisted with a mix of confusion and disgust which caused Jade let out a small chuckle.

"Him apparently.... It's interesting however....that his brother hasn't shown up."

"Yeah, what does his brother even look like anyway? I've never seen him before." Asked Leory.

"I don't know." she sighed in return. "In fact I don't think anybody knows, he never bothers to show up to these events."

"That's a bit odd isn't it. You would think that it would be common courtesy to show up to your own event, wouldn't you?"

Jade just shrugged her shoulders in reply.

Suddenly a booming voice rang through the room. Somebody was about to announce something. Through a microphone perhaps?
