Chapter Nine - Translation

It had been a whole week since Jade and Leroy had taken the trip to the memorial building where they had found the next clue to their 'puzzle' but the week hadn't exactly been 'fun pack'. In fact, Jade had spent the entire time trying to figure out what the clue actually said. It wasn't as easy to solve as they first expected it to be and Leroy was getting worried about her mental state. She'd not had a decent nights kip since they got back from the library which couldn't have been good for her health.

Jade on the other hand couldn't care less about the amount of sleep she had been missing out on. All she wanted to do was find out what was written down on the piece of paper that lay in front of her on the living-room table.

"Refill?" Leroy asked, motioning towards her now empty coffee mug.

"Nah..." She replied as she rubbed her temples. "...I'm starting to feel a little light-headed."

"I'm not surprised. You've already gone through a whole tin of 'instant coffee' granules..."

"That's not so bad-"

"In thirty-six hours." Leroy finished.

Jade sat up straight in her seat and looked down at her mug.

"Oh."

Pulling up a chair, Leroy sat down at the table beside her.

"So.." He began. "Have you got any closer to working it out yet."

"I...I think so." She said with uncertainty. "It's just...It doesn't seem to make sense."

"What do you mean?"

"Well I used the grid and translated each word, letter by letter and all I've managed to make out are three words...which..in the order they have been written in, make no sense at all." She told him.

"So? What are the words?"

"'Is' , 'Love' and 'Sea'."

"Jade, that's four words not three."

"No, 'and' wasn't one of the words." She smiled back. "Dumb-ass."

Leroy knew that 'and' wasn't one of the words but he knew that Jade would crack a smile if she thought he had. Considering Jade hadn't smiled at all for the past week, he jumped at the chance to change that.

"'Is' , 'Love' and 'Sea'?" Leroy repeated.

"Yes."

"In that order?"

"In that order." Jade clarified as she placed her head down onto the table.
