Chapter 44 - Isa?

When I opened the door my eyes opened and I found myself back in my own bed.  My heart was pounding as I blinked in response to the remnants of sleep.Sleep?  It was all an illusion, a vivid nightmare that had shaken me to my core.

  I felt my heart sink even as relief washed over me.  The dream felt so real, the fear of losing Toto so palpable.crazy, and her cheeks were wet with tears.  It was all a dream a terrible, heartbreaking nightmare.
  I was relieved when I realized that my relationship with Toto was intact, that our love was still alive.  The dream felt so real, but it was just a product of my fears and insecurities.  I couldn't help but smile, my hand instinctively resting on my pregnant belly

   But when i turned to the side, i saw a figure standing by my bed.

  It was Toto, his eyes filled with concern, his hand resting gently on my pregnant belly.  I was so lost in that dream that I didn't notice him.

"Leah" he whispered in a soft and gentle voice.  "Are you okay? You were crying in your sleep."

  My heart filled with a mixture of relief and love.  Here is Toto's unwavering support and care. The one I need.  I reached out to him, pulling him to me, tears filling my eyes

  "Honey it's okay, it was just a dream"
He stroked my head and I told him about my dream and I saw the guilt in his eyes

"It's because of me Leah. It's because of me that you feel this way" I kissed him and smiled

"I'm just glad you're here"

"I'll always be here for you"

***The next day*****

Well, he's not always by my side! Toto is at work again and I think I'm going to die of boredom! I watched almost all the series on netflix and now I just lay and stroke my belly until I heard someone knocking loudly on the door. Gosh!

I got up quickly and went to open the door but it was already open and I saw Isa in front of me

"Isa? But how did it get in here it was locked!"

"No it wasn't locked you dummy" She laughed and hugged me

"Come in don't stand like that" I said and this time I really closed and locked the door and we went into the living room

"Oh wow" was the first thing Isa managed to say and giggled

"Don't laugh it's hard to be pregnant!" I said and looked at the table strewn with chips and snacks

"I'm the same and I'm not pregnant!" she said and we laughed and she sat on the sofa and so did I

I was wearing one of Toto's blouses and Isa stroked my belly gently. I lifted my blouse and her eyes widened.

"Gosh, Leah, it's like yesterday you told us you were pregnant, and already the baby has grown so much"

When she said that, the raving Lea got involved and of course tears started to fall from my eyes

"No no no no. Leah! That's a good thing" she hugged me and laughed

  The apartment was filled with a cozy atmosphere as the sunlight streamed through the curtains.

We both settled on the sofa, snuggled under a soft blanket and started to catch up on our lives.  Isa shared stories about her recent work adventures while I talked about my excitement and anxiety about becoming a mother.

  "I can't believe how soon the baby will be here," I said placing a hand on my growing belly.  "Sometimes it seems to us that yesterday we were children ourselves."

  Isa nodded in understanding.  “Time flies, doesn't it?  But you will be a great mother, Leah.  I don't doubt it.” I smiled and I'm glad I'm finally spending time with my best friend

  Our conversation turned to lighter topics as I decided to watch a romantic comedy that we both wanted to see.

  “You know,” Isa said, sipping her wine, “we've been through so much together, Leah.  From school projects to broken hearts, and now the biggest adventure of all, motherhood.”

  I smiled, my heart warmed by Isa's words.  “I can't imagine going through all of this without you, Isa.  You were my rock, my confidant and my partner in crime.”

  Isa reached out and took my hand "And I always will, no matter what. We're in this together, every step of the way. Even if we drifted apart with your pregnancy, I know when baby is born we'll make up."  ..the three of  us" I laughed and she smiled at me

  The movie we were watching turned out to be too boring and I felt my eyes closing slowly
