Chapter 39-Sweet surprise

My anticipation had been building ever since my visit to the doctor's office. As I sat in the cozy waiting room for my prenatal appointment, a mixture of excitement and nervousness ran through me.

This time I was alone and Toto was bound by work commitments. I knew he would be happy to be here, but I assured him it was just a routine checkup. Little did he suspect that today's meeting would bring a pleasant surprise.

Dr. Simmons, her experienced and kind-hearted obstetrician, greeted me warmly as she entered the room.

"How are you feeling today Leah?" she asked

I smiled widely and settled into the chair.

With the familiar cool gel on my stomach, I watched the screen as the doctor performed the ultrasound. The ringing sound of the Doppler filled the room and there was the unmistakable image of our baby.

I couldn't help but gasp at the sight. "Oh look at our baby!" I exclaimed

The Doctor smiled warmly, moving the probe to get a better view.

"Your baby is growing perfectly Leah. Do you want to know the gender?'

My heart was pounding with excitement. Toto couldn't wait to find out and she was excited to surprise him with the news.

"Yes, please tell me!"

Dr. Simmons pointed at the screen and her finger traced a clear outline. "Congratulations Leah. You will have ..."

After the appointment, Dr. Simmons provided me with a sonogram and some advice on preparing for the baby. I left the doctor's office with a heart full of excitement, eager to share the amazing news with Toto

I immediately headed to the adorable bakery which I adore! The enticing aroma of freshly baked goods greeted me as I entered. Emma, ​​the friendly baker, was behind the counter. I've been a regular customer ever since I was pregnant!

"Leah, what can I do for you today?"

I leaned in with a voice filled with excitement "I need a special cake Emma. It's a surprise for Toto and I know the gender of our baby but he doesn't. Can you make me a gender reveal cake? "

Emma's eyes sparkled with joy. "Of course Leah! I love making these special cakes. You know you can trust me with your secret."

"And I'd like a piece of double chocolate cake" Emma laughed and gave me a piece of perfection and I paid and stumbled back to our apartment eating the cake. It's delicious!

I ordered a small cake and Emma said it would be ready at 3 pm! During that time I rested, took a shower, cleaned up because I had made a mess

Finally it was 3pm and I went to get the cake. As soon as Emma saw me she immediately put the cake in front of me and I gasped

The cake was decorated with decorations that did not reveal anything about the baby's gender. They were in beige and white Once the cake was done, Emma gently placed it in a box and handed it to me with a conspiratorial wink.

I felt a rush of excitement as I clutched the box close to me. I knew this cake would be the perfect way to reveal Toto's exciting news. It was a sunny day and I decided that a picnic in the nearby park would be the perfect place for our special moment. And the last few days we are almost constantly at home! Boredom!

I packed a picnic basket with Toto's favorite sandwiches, fresh fruit, and a soft blanket to sit on. I texted Toto asking if he could come home early and of course the answer was Yes.

Toto came but he wanted to take a quick shower and so he did. Meanwhile I also put the cake in the basket out of sight. However, this basket is terribly heavy and Toto will have to carry it

When we arrived at the park, I couldn't help but admire the peaceful beauty of the place. Dad always brought me here. It's quiet and there are no people. The calm atmosphere added to my excitement for sure

We found a quiet spot under a sprawling oak whose branches provided dappled shade from the bright sun above. I couldn't wait any longer. It was time to reveal my sweet secret. I organized our picnic and the cake box sat attractively in the center.

"Toto" I began in a voice filled with excitement, "I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes."

Toto laughed and smiled sweetly. He closed his eyes with a satisfied smile on his face and waited for the surprise

"Open them" I whispered quietly in Toto's ear. I had already taken the cake out of the box .

Leah grinned, her heart racing with excitement. "This is a gender reveal cake, Toto. But here's the twist - I know the gender and you don't.'

Toto's surprise was obvious and then a big smile spread across his face. He looked at me in astonishment.

"You mean...I'll find out?"

I nodded, eyes sparkling with happiness. "Yes you are."

Toto took the knife and carefully cut a piece of cake. He put the piece of cake on a plate and saw that the cake's cream was blue.

There was only excitement in Toto's eyes
"Leah, does this mean we have..."

I nodded, tears of joy glistening in my eyes. "...boy!"

Toto reached for my hand and took it gently. We walked away a moment of pure happiness knowing that our lives would soon be filled with the boundless energy and love of our little boy.

Under the clear blue sky, surrounded by the beauty of nature, we celebrated our baby's gender reveal. The sweet surprise brought us even closer if that was even possible and we couldn't wait to embark on this incredible journey of parenthood together.
