We all sat in a room on Yondu's ship and stared at Peter like he was crazy. Rocket raised his voice, "You call that 'figured it out'? We're gonna rob the guys who just beat us senseless." Peter looked at him, "Oh, you want to talk about senseless? How about trying to save us by blowing us up?" Rocket raised his arms, "We were only going to blow you up if they didn't turn you over!"
Peter glared at him, "And how on Earth were they going to turn us over when you only gave them to the count of five? You brought my sister into it as well!" Rocket looked offended, "It was her idea." I grinned, "We didn't have time to work out the minutiae of the plan. Rocket, this is what we get for acting altruistically." Groot looked at us, "I am Groot." Rocket nodded, "They are ungrateful." Gamora looked at us, "What's important now is we get the Ravagers army to help us save Xandar."
Rocket nodded, "So we can give the stone to Yondu who's just going to sell it to someone worse?" I shook my head, "We're giving it to the Xandarians for protection. End of story." Gamora looked desperate, "We have to stop Ronan." Rocket sighed, "How?!"
Peter looked determined, "I have a plan." I crossed my arms, "You've got a plan?" Peter frowned, "Why are you surprised?" I smiled softly, "Brother, I hate to say it, but your plans suck." Rocket nodded, "First of all, you're copying me from when I said I had a plan." Peter shook his head, "No, I'm not. People say that all the time. It's not that unique of a thing to say. Nefer, my plans do not suck!"
Rocket continued, "Secondly I don't believe you have a plan." Peter raised his voice, "I have part of a plan!" Drax looked up at Peter, "What percentage of a plan do you have?" I looked at him in disbelief, "Percentage? Seriously? We're worried about that?" Gamora pointed at Drax, "You don't get to ask questions after that nonsense you pulled on Knowhere."
Drax looked offended, "I just saved Quill." Peter looked annoyed, "We just established that you destroying the ship that I'm on is not saving me." Drax looked at me, "When did we establish that?" I rolled my eyes, "When we first sat down!" Drax shrugged and got comfortable, "I wasn't listening. I was thinking of something else."
I groaned and Rocket pointed at Drax, "She's right, you don't get an opinion. What percentage?" Peter thought about it, "Twelve percent." I looked at Peter and laughed, "Are you kidding me? That's all?" Peter deadpanned at me, "Your Sovereign nature is really poking through the blinds right now." I smiled sheepishly and shrugged.
Rocket looked at Peter, "Twelve percent?" Rocket and I shared a look and laughed together. Peter sighed, "Rocket that's a fake laugh." Rocket looked at him, "It's real!" Peter shook his head, "Totally fake." Rocket scoffed, "That is the most real, authentic, hysterical laugh of my entire life because that is not a plan!" Peter looked at me for help and I sighed, calming myself, "Okay Peter. What-"
Gamora interrupted me, "It's barely a concept." Peter looked hurt, "You're taking their side!?" Groot looked at me, "I am Groot." I looked back at him in confusion, "So what it's better than eleven percent? What the hell does that have to do with anything?" Peter smiled, "Thank you, Groot. Thank you! See? Groot is the only one of you who has a clue."
We all watched as Groot chewed on a small branch that was on his arm. Peter sighed, "Guys. Come one. Yondu is going to be here in two seconds. He expects to hear this big plan of ours. I need your help. Nefertiti, please. I know I expect you to be on my side the entire time, but I am asking you, please. Will you fight beside me? I look around at us. You know what I see? Losers."
Gamora spoke softly, while everyone else looked confused, "Except Nefertiti." Peter smiled, "Yeah, except her. It's not in her blood to be a loser. I mean, like, folks who have lost stuff. And we have. Man, we have. All of us. Our homes, our families, normal lives. And usually, life takes more than it gives. But not today. Today, it's given us something. It has given us a chance."
Drax looked up at Peter, "To do what?" I smiled and looked at Peter, "To give a shit." Peter smiled, "For once. Not run away. I, for one, am not gonna stand by and watch as Ronan wipes out billions of innocent lives." Rocket spoke softly, "But, Quill, stopping Ronan, it's impossible. You're asking us to die and Nefertiti hasn't seen anyone from her species."
I smiled and stood up, "Just because I haven't found my kind, doesn't mean they're family. Family doesn't begin or end in blood. Family is what you make it. All of you are my family. No matter what you want to deny. I will fight with you brother." Gamora smiled and stood up as well, "I have lived most of my life surrounded by my enemies. I will be grateful to die among my friends," She then looked at me, "My family."
Drax stood up as well, "You are an honorable man, Quill. Nefertiti is an honorable woman. I will fight beside both of you. And in the end, I will see my wife and daughter again." Groot stood up and looked at Peter, "I am Groot." We all looked at Rocket, who sighed and stood on the crate he was sitting on, "Oh, what the hell. I don't got that long a lifespan, anyway. Now, I'm standing. Y'all happy? We're all standing up now. Bunch of jackasses, standing in a circle."
