Nefertiti's POV

The next day we were repairing everything and getting all the creatures settled. I did find Rameses a brother and I love them both so much. They are practically the biggest puppies I've ever seen. I started training them but Cosmo gets a little jealous. Adam and I have gotten closer, Peter doesn't really approve since Adam tried killing everyone, but he's getting used to it. 

I stood in the middle of Knowhere and smiled, looking around, hearing Nebula call out, "Nefer, Peter wants to talk to us!" I hurried over to her and we both walked to where Peter was.

I looked at the floor in tears as Rocket asked, "So, you're gonna leave?" Peter sounded sad, "My mother died in front of me when I was eight years old, and I have been running ever since. I'm gonna need to take some time...and learn how to swim." I sniffled and Peter looked at me, "Nefer-" I nodded, "I know. I know. I can't do anything because I left for ten years to find out who I was." Peter pulled me close to hug me, "But you came back. I don't know if I will." I wiped my tears, "Will you at least video chat every once and a while?" Peter teared up, "If you think I'm going to shut you out, you're wrong. You've been there for me since I was eight. I would never shut you out." 

Mantis nodded, "I as well." I snapped my head to her, "Mantis?" Mantis hugged me as well, "I love you all. I do. But my whole life I did whatever Ego wanted, and then, I did whatever the Guardians wanted. I need to go out and discover what I want. Sister, I will call you all the time. You will get sick of hearing me." I chuckled through my tears, "That's not possible, Manti." Drax looked at Mantis, "I'll go with you." Mantis shook her head, "No, Drax. That's the whole point."

Drax looked pained, "But you need someone to protect you." Mantis shook her head, "I don't.' Drax shook his head, "Not in a bad way. Just because of your incredible weakness." I giggled, "Drax, just tell her you love her and don't want her to go." Mantis groaned, "Oh, my gosh, you're so frustrating!" Nebula grinned, "Drax. I need you here. Along with Nefer. We're building a new society. Titi and I need all the support we can get for those children out there. Today, I saw who you are. You weren't born to be a destroyer. You were born to be a dad." 

Drax smiled and nodded as Rocket looked at Bula, "So, you'll lead the Guardians then?" Bula shook her head, "No. I'm gonna lead the city, make it the type of him I never had." Rocket started choking up, "So, that's it? The group's over?" Peter shook his head, "No. Well, the Galaxy still needs its Guardians. And you will make a better leader than I ever was, Cap'n." I smiled tearfully and nodded at Rocket, doing the Ravager chest pound. Everyone followed suit and Groot looked around, "I love you, guys." 

Peter looked at me, "If I find out that you and the gold maniac are having-" I screamed, "Shut up!" Everyone laughed and Peter smiled, kissing my forehead, "Make sure to tell the kids about Uncle Peter and Aunt Mantis." I smiled tearfully, "Don't worry. They will know who you are. Who both of you are."

I looked up, heard music playing, and smiled. Peter gave his Zoon to Rocket and I listened to the music as I looked around for Adam.

Happiness hit her like a train on a track

Coming towards her

Stuck still, no turning back

She hid around corners and she hid under beds

She killed it with kisses and from it she fled

With every bubble, she sank with a drink

And washed it away down the kitchen sink

The dog days are over, the dog days are gone

The horses are coming, so you better run

Everyone started dancing and I laughed as Rocket and Groot were dancing silly and Bula was having the time of her life. I finally found Adam and he sat on the stairs with a blanket around him, "Adam. What's wrong?" Adam didn't look at me, "Mother is gone." I teared up, "Oh, sweetheart. I'm so sorry." I held out my hand and smiled, "Let's go. I can find some of my Uncle's clothes that he gave me in case I found you and you needed some."

Adam took my hand and got up off the ground, hugging me, "I love you, Nefer." I smiled and kissed his chin, "I love you too, Adam." Adam looked around, "What is this noise?" I giggled, "Music. Welcome home, Adam." I looked over and giggled as Drax started dancing with the kids and everyone started cheering. I looked back at Adam and smiled as he gazed at me with love, "So what do you think, Adam? Can you like it here? Because we can go back to Sovereign if you want." Adam chuckled and kissed my forehead, "Let's stay here. I see good coming from them. Now, about your room?" 

I shrieked and giggled as he started chasing me and I led him to my apartment, both of us laughing the whole way.

TimeSkip

"Okay, how about your favorite musical act?" Rocket asked everyone, "Phyla, you first." Phyla hummed, "Um...Britney Spears and Korn." Rocket nodded and pointed to Kraglin, "Good choices." Kraglin nodded, "I gotta go with the man. Garth Brooks." Cosmo pitched in, "The Carpenters do not have a single bad song." Adam nodded, "Adrian Belew. Both solo and his work with King Crimson. What about you, sweetheart?" 

I hummed and I threw a treat the our pet F'saki, Blurp, "Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie." Adam scoffed, "You only like him because of his pants." I smirked, "If you wore those pants, you'd be my favorite too." Adam playfully glared at me, "You minx." Rocket chuckled, "I still can't believe you two have been married for six years and have a son. How is Nathan?" I smiled, "He's doing well in school, Bula wanted to babysit him for a little bit while we came out to help with this. Peter and Mantis adore him and surprisingly Peter's grandfather loves him and isn't weirded out that there are other life forms than Terrans. What about you, Rocket?"

Rocket smiled, "Uh, this one's kind of special. Nefer knows it." I started laughing as Redbone started playing and Kraglin laughed with me. I looked out into the desert and sighed, "Time to get to work." Kraglin got up with a groan, "I can handle this all by my lonesome if y'all wanna chill." Rocket shook his head, "Nah, nah. It'll go faster if we all do it together. Let's go GlowWorm." I laughed loudly and then deadpanned, "Like I haven't heard that before." 

Adam stifled a laugh and I playfully smacked him, "Hush! Groot, wake up!" Blurp got off of Groot and Groot got up" Phyla looked at the creatures with sadness, "Do you ever feel a little sad for them?" Rocket cocked his gun, "Yeah, sure. But these townsfolk can't protect themselves." Cosmo looked at Rocket, "On your word, Kapitan."

Rocket grinned, "Word."

Peter's POV

I smiled as I read over the letter Nefertiti sent, "Grandpa, Nathan misses you and hopes to visit soon." Grandpa smiled, "Tell your sister to visit too. She's a sweet woman. Her husband is a bit dim, but kind as well." I chuckled, "He's getting better. You know about the Sovereign, Nefer is the only good one. Well, Adam and Nathan are too." 

I took a bite of cereal, "I mean if she needs help mowing her lawn, I'll do it, but I kinda feel like her son should help. He's gonna sit on the porch and watch me do it while asking about Nefer. Like he's a forty-five-year-old man, able-bodied, and I'm mowing his lawn. It just feels weird." Grandpa hummed, "Mm-hmm. Don't get me started." I looked at him, "Oh, really?" Grandpa hummed again, "Mm-hmm." I grinned, "Now I kind of want to know."

Grandpa grinned, "Everyone who's seen your sister thinks she's a looker." I snorted, "It's because she's gold. That's it." Grandpa shrugged, "Maybe so. But she's invested in the community and helped people. Some find that attractive." I stared at him, "Are you-" Grandpa shook his head and grinned, "Maybe fifty years ago." 

I groaned, "Gross!"
