A/N: Another part of this nonsense, good luck.
Also, I keep forgetting to mention this and it's been over a year, I'm so sorry about that: Sir_Robyn made fanart of the Destined AU ages and ages ago so go look at it - and yes, I know that is probably where most of the people reading this came from so you've likely already seen it, but go look at it because it's really really cool. And if you've already seen it, go look at it again.
Warnings: Dead bodies (Not described in great detail, but very much there and very much described), gambling (Specifically betting on a card game).
"Y'know, this might somehow be worse than when the Captains were all oblivious," David observed, watching Marshie from where he stood on the deck of the Eiy-Em. Mario raised a hand to shield his eyes from the sun and squinted at the Captain, who was leaning against the railing of the ship, gazing out at the horizon with a faraway look on her face.
"Yeah, you're right," He agreed. "But maybe now they'll get their dramatic romance plotline over and done with and we can actually get them to help with this whole thing."
David frowned down at the 'whole thing' in question - a rotted corpse currently floating face-down in the water below, bumping gently against the side of the small ship. His tail flicked as he stared at it in disgust.
"It took all three of them two years to realise, I doubt we'll be done with this any time soon," He pointed out, and Mario sighed, nodding his head. "By the way, how're we getting that thing out of the water?"
"Mania said to just leave it, see if it'll go away on its own."
"Didn't we already try that and it didn't work?"
"That's what I said, too, but maybe Marshie will actually notice this one," Mario shrugged, adjusting his yellow headband.
David scoffed. "Unlikely. The most that'll happen is scaring off other ships - or getting the Navy's attention." He paused for a moment, thinking. "Actually, they're probably more competent at this than us, so sure, go ahead. We could use the help, to be- Ow! What was that for?"
Mario pulled his elbow away from where he'd just jabbed David in the ribs. "Have you forgotten the bit where we all get arrested for piracy? And then when we get out Bryan lectures us for three days straight?"
"Or he gets fired."
"Or that."
"I'm not sure what's worse - prison, or Bryan yelling at us." David shuddered just thinking about it.
"Definitely Bryan, those Navy prisons are laughably easy to get out of," Mario answered, scrunching up his nose as he witnessed Marshie scramble to regain her balance after leaning too far out over the water.
"Excuse you, not all of us can pick locks," David huffed, turning away in mock-offence.
"I have tried to teach you! You just don't listen!" Mario sniped back, a grin on his face.
"Sounds like excuses to me-"
"What are you two doing?" Mania interrupted, and the two instinctively spun around with their very best 'no, we didn't steal that, what are you talking about?' faces on.
"Nothing," They said in unison, and then immediately burst into giggles. Mania raised an eyebrow.
"We were genuinely doing nothing, don't worry," Mario clarified around his laughter, trying his best not to devolve into hysterics. Beside him, David was doing much the same.
