"Would you just head back already?" Pete shouted, ensnaring a Sable agent in his web and sending him crashing to the pavement. As Kitty and I were engrossed in our movie, the police scanner erupted with news of a chopper crash near one of Oscorp's installations. I arrived a tad late, but at least I had the chance to give the Sable agents a piece of my mind. Pete, however, seemed adamant about keeping me on the sidelines, probably because of our recent debacle at the Raft.

"Eat my webs! I'm helping you get that serum," I shot back, taking aim at a Sable agent's jetpack. The agent plummeted, and I made quick work of him with my webbing. From what Pete had shared, Aunt May had been afflicted by Devil's Breath. Losing another maternal figure wasn't an option for me. I'd fight tooth and nail for that antidote.

"Listen, Y/n, just let me handle this. You're still healing, and look at your suit!" Pete exclaimed, flooring another Sable agent with a swift roundhouse kick. I took a quick glance down at my suit. The iconic emblem, which once shone brightly on my chest, was now barely recognizable beneath the scratches and stains. Still, that wouldn't deter me.

"You think a few tears are gonna stop me? I've been through worse!" I yelled back, landing a solid punch on an approaching agent, knocking him off his feet. Pete's expression was a cocktail of frustration and worry. Though he understood my determination, my relentless defiance was becoming a challenge for him. Amidst the turmoil, our eyes met, a momentary pause in our frenzied world.

A Sable agent, noticing our momentary lapse in ///attention, made his move. With a speed that betrayed his size, he lunged towards me. Pete, always the protector, reacted faster, intercepting the agent with a swift, aerial takedown.

"All right, fine! We do this together," Pete conceded, catching his breath.

I grinned, readying myself. "Deal. But don't slow me down."

Despite our banter, our collaboration was impeccable. Our moves, though only honed over a few months of partnership, gelled as if we had been allies for years. Driven by May's perilous condition, I pushed myself harder than ever, taking more risks than I should have.

When the last agent lay webbed and incapacitated on the pavement, Pete approached me, breathing heavily. "This isn't a game, Y/n. You're talented, yes, but your arrogance will be your downfall."

I huffed, irritation evident. "Spare me the lecture. You're not the all-knowing Spider, you know."

"It's not about knowing everything. It's about recognizing the consequences. We've both lost people, Y/n. I don't want to lose you too." Pete said, his voice filled with concern.

I diverted my gaze, the weight of his words settling. "Let's just find the antidote." I strode past Pete, heading for the building's entrance. Pete worked on forcing the door open.

"Did they make this thing out of Vibranium or something?" He grunted, wrestling with the stubborn entrance. As I was about to offer assistance, my Spidey sense tingled with urgency. Reacting instantly, I twisted to shield Pete from an incoming bullet that ricocheted off the door. Silver Sable was closing in, her twin pistols blazing.

Before I could process it, I shot a web, propelling myself in her direction. But she was swift, deflecting my move with a kick that sent me sprawling. In an instant, she had one heel pressing onto my injured chest, dual guns drawn, one pointed at my forehead and the other at Pete.

"You harassed my men, destroyed my equipment, and cost my client millions. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you both right now." She demanded. I grunted under the pressure of her heel, especially against my earlier injury.

I managed a defiant smirk, despite the pain. "Try it."

Her heel grounds deeper into my chest, eliciting a pained gasp. Pete, always the diplomat, intervened, "Listen. I don't like you and you don't like me. But Li has your client inside the building right now and he's going to kill him if we don't do something. We can fight each other or we can fight Li. But not both."
