"And into the fire." Pete says.
As the helicopter blades whip overhead, I raise my voice to be heard. "What exactly happened?"
"It was a coordinated attack," Yuri explains tersely. "From the looks of it, this was orchestrated from the outside. Nearly every cell block is open. We're dangerously close to having every Ryker's inmate parading down Fifth Avenue."
Peter's eyes narrow, "What about the Raft?"
"It's a supermax facility – different security measures and its own power grid. It should be intact," Yuri assures as we approach the chaos surrounding Ryker's.
Peter persists, "And the Devil's Breath?"
Yuri's tone turns colder, "Sable's on it."
"Do you trust them to handle it?"
Her voice drips with frustration, "Do I really have a choice right now?"
The scene below is chaotic. SWAT vehicles lay overturned and police cars litter the road. It's eerily silent until suddenly, a truck barrels out of the prison gates, a wild-eyed inmate clinging to its side. As it gains speed, a crash is imminent – it's headed straight for a massive fuel tank.
Without hesitation, I drop from the helicopter, swinging to the driver's side of the truck. Inside, a manic prisoner is at the wheel. "Should've buckled up," I remark dryly, seeing his lack of a seatbelt. He shoots me a split-second look of confusion before realization dawns. Seizing the moment, I grip his collar and haul him out of the speeding vehicle. But the truck, now driverless, maintains its deadly trajectory toward the fuel tank. With adrenaline pumping, I leap clear, using a nearby pole to swing to safety just in time as the truck hits the fuel tank. The scorching heat from the explosion envelopes me, briefly masking the prison's cold waterfront air. The truck, now a ball of flames, vaults dramatically before crashing into the prison's surrounding water with a splash.
As I find my footing, a shit ton of prisoners charge towards me. Just in time, Peter swings in with fluid grace, snatching one prisoner out of the air and delivering a well-placed kick to another.
A bewildered inmate yells, "Why's Spider-Man here?"
"Why wouldn't we be here dipshit." I say I deftly use my webbing to subdue one prisoner, while delivering a powerful punch to another.
Suddenly, a plume of smoke whooshes past. A rocket narrowly misses the chopper overhead. The unmistakable trail it leaves is an ominous sign.
Yuri's voice comes over the comms, laced with urgency, "Damn it, they've breached the armory."
"Is that bad? Because it sounds bad." Pete says
Yuri responds tersely, "Some of these inmates are now armed with rocket launchers."
Peter groans, "Oh yeah, that sounds really bad."
"First off, why the fuck does a prison have rocket launchers." I say. Having dealt with the immediate threat, my focus shifts to the inmate responsible for the rocket attack. I spot him atop a roof, brandishing his newfound weapon. I soar upwards and send him flying off with a swift kick, then web him securely to a wall. Peter is right on my tail, and together, we plunge into the prison courtyard. The scene is bedlam, with inmates and police engaged///// in a fierce and frenzied firefight.
A bullet zipped past my head. Adrenaline kicked in. I could feel my mutant spider senses tingling, a danger-warning system that worked even better than my instincts. Dodging to the left, I caught sight of three inmates taking aim. In a swift motion, I created a portal beneath them. They fell through, dropping out from a portal above a police car. Pete was a whirlwind of motion, disarming prisoners with swift kicks and fluid web shots. I joined in, using a combination of my spider agility and portals. An inmate tried to rush me from behind, but with my enhanced reflexes, I turned and punched him square in the jaw, sending him sprawling. The courtyard is finally clear when Yuri's voice crackles through the earpiece.
