Sitting in Pete's cozy new apartment, Y/n recounted the extraordinary events of the previous night, his words painting a vivid picture of his interdimensional escapade. Pete, who had been fraught with worry when Y/n didn't show up at the museum, listened intently, a mix of disbelief and awe on his face.
"So you're saying you traveled to a different universe? Like, multiverse theory stuff?" Pete asked, trying to wrap his head around the concept.
"I don't know what multiverse theory is, but I'm going to say yes. Just... watch this," Y/n replied, his confidence waning slightly. He concentrated, attempting to summon the same portal that had whisked him to Noir's world, with its stark black-and-white landscape and pervasive smoky scent.
Y/n focused intensely, trying to recall every sensation, every detail of that noir universe. But despite his efforts, nothing materialized.
"Uh, is something supposed to be happening?" Pete asked, a hint of skepticism in his voice.
"Yeah... Open sesame!" Y/n exclaimed, but the air remained still, unresponsive to his command. "Abracadabra! Let me in! Ogaa booga! Just open, damn it!" He tried again, his voice rising in frustration, but the room stayed as it was – portal-less and disappointingly ordinary.
Pete, observing the failed attempts, remarked, "Nothing's happening."
"Yeah, I know nothing's fucking happening"

____________________________Gliding through the city, Y/n maneuvered between the skyscrapers with a practiced ease, the rhythmic thwip-thwip of his web shooters punctuating the quiet cityscape. His mind was abuzz with thoughts about the strange and unpredictable nature of his newfound portal ability. It had saved him from the clutches of death, but now, frustratingly, it seemed dormant.
His phone buzzed with a message from Kyouko, reminding him of their rescheduled training session. He had missed it the day before due to his unintentional foray into different worlds. He adjusted his trajectory, heading towards their usual meeting spot. But first, a quick detour was in order. Swinging down to a familiar neighborhood, Y/n approached Miles' place. Ever since Aunt May's passing, and with Peter moving into his own apartment, Rio Morales – Miles' mom – had generously offered Y/n a place to stay. Gratefully, he accepted, finding solace in the warmth and kindness of the Morales home.
He stayed in their spare room, a cozy space that had quickly become his own little sanctuary in the city. The distance to Midtown High was significant, but Y/n managed to make it work. The daily commute across the city was just a minor inconvenience but wasn't as bad web slinging there.
He landed on the roof of the apartment and grabbed his backpack with some spare clothes. He executed a graceful descent down the fire escape, slipping silently through Miles' window. The sudden appearance startled Miles, who had been absorbed in something on his computer. His head snapped up, eyes wide with surprise.
"Where'd you come from?!" Miles exclaimed, his voice tinged with both shock and amusement.
"Just grabbing my old homemade suit real quick," Y/n replied nonchalantly as he peeled off his mask and began changing into a pair of jeans and a jacket, putting it over his costume.
Miles was already aware of Y/n's secret identity as a superhero. When Miles revealed his spider bite and newfound abilities to Pete, Pete had briefed him about many things. Y/n didn't mind Miles knowing, especially because it helped in keeping Rio unaware of the truth.
"Why are you getting your old costume?" Miles inquired.
"Kyouko got bitten by a spider too and now has powers. I'm going to train her a bit today," Y/n explained.
