𝐇𝐀𝐖𝐊My shoulders bowed as I breathed hard and my heart was pounding twice as fast.
My sweat was dripping down my cloth-covered face and dampening the garment that was wrapped around my head.
My hand was shaking after the tiring back and forth.
When I finally lunged and tackled my opponent, I pushed my body further forward to bury the sword on the neck of the knight under me. His strong and wide face was red as he tried to fight to get my sword off his vulnerable neck. He stared right into me as he grunted in anger.
"You little shit," he mumbled while his jaw was clenched. His fists dug deeper as he wrapped them around the blade but I wasn't easing the pressure.
"Surrender," I said to him.
He glared at me trying to act like he could still take it but we both knew he was fighting a losing battle. I grunted and pushed the sword again and it painfully buried in his throat. Not enough to open his skin but enough to hurt.
Finally, I saw him close his eyes in defeat and I slowly eased my hold as he raised his hand in surrender.
The crowd went wild as I stood up and threw my blunt sword on the ground.
I could admit that was fun.
I took a deep breath and walked to the side of the arena as they got it ready for the next fight.
I heard about the arena fight here in Credia over three weeks ago. Many people were talking about it and the money offered was hard to ignore, and Credia is the most entertaining and legit arena fight on the continent.
Plus, you are not allowed to kill in the arena. Of course, some break that law but in general, killing is very much looked down upon in arena fights in Credia. It's purely for entertainment and you get a lot of money in winning a single fight.
I wasn't much of a fighter anymore since I only did it for an obligation to the crown as a Royal Guard but since I've been a nomad for a few years now, money has not been stable.
I'm still considering fighting in the arena that's why I came here for the sparring. Just to see if I like it, and maybe I'll train for the main event.
I'm standing at the side of the arena leaning my elbows on the metal railing and watching two knights fight. They weren't wearing any armor and the weapons weren't deadly. It would hurt but would not be able to tear the skin, it's the rules of the sparring.
I tried to catch my breath as I watched the two knights go back and forth with the swing of their swords. I still feel the adrenaline flowing through my body after my fight.
I looked away from the two knights as someone tapped my shoulder. I turned to see a Royal Guard standing behind me.
I narrowed my eyes at him waiting for him to speak.
"The Royal of Vitalis is requesting your presence," he said, his voice muffled slightly by his metal helmet.
I looked up to the shaded Royal box and could see the Royals laughing and chatting inside. I pushed off the railing and followed the Royal Guard.
We walked up a flight of stairs, passing by a lot of civilians who were enjoying the show as they stood and cheered.
After a few moments, the Royal Guard led me inside the Royal Box and they all turned towards me as I entered. I was covered from head to toe with only my eyes uncovered and I could see the curiosity from some of them.
