Chapter 2

Kit dragged me with a strength I didn't expect from a slim one-legged man.

"Sit," he ordered and I followed.

What was I even doing?

I'm a fighter, I was a Royal Guard for crying out loud. I should stand my ground. A herbalist, a pregnant woman, and a man with a wooded leg have no chance over me.

I started to stand up when Isabelle touched my shoulder, "Sit," she said with a soft but authoritative voice.

"Of course," I mumbled before sitting.

The sooner they start, the sooner I get to leave, I convinced myself. So, I just relaxed on my chair and closed my eyes.

I heard the wooden back door open, "Oh god, what have you done now," I heard a groan and opened my eyes to see Danielle looking at the scene.

"Oh hi sweetheart," Isabelle walked to give Danielle a quick kiss, "We're helping Hawk with her disguise," she said excitedly.

Danielle turned to me in question and I only stared at her blankly and blinked.

Danielle rubbed her temple before looking at me, "When are you leaving?" She asked.

"Tomorrow," I informed.

Danielle nodded, "What disguise are we talking about here?" She asked trying to get a deeper understanding of what was happening.

Maria raised the jar, "She wants to dye her hair, and we're helping her," she said and Danielle looked at me to confirm.

They technically didn't lie, so I nodded.

Danielle gave me a last look before facing Isabelle, "Okay, but can you please drink your medicine first," she said.

Isabelle nodded with a wide smile before reaching for a small jar given by Maria. She showed it to Danielle.

"Okay. Thank you," she said before nodding, "Well I better go, I just wanted to make sure you didn't forget your medicine. See you guys later," then she turned to me with slight concern as she studied me. "You..." she sighed, "You'll be fine." She waved and then walked out of the room.

I hope so.

"Let's get this off now," Kit said and grabbed the garment on my head.

My heart pounded but I relaxed myself. I hate to admit that it would be really hard to do this alone, I might fuck it up and make it more obvious. Also, I'm leaving tomorrow, if anyone would try to look for me here, I'd be long gone.

I let them take off the fabric revealing my hair that was white as snow and I slowly moved the fabric off my face and put it on my lap.

I took in their reactions that I knew would come, that's why I'm trying to hide my hair color in the first place.

Isabelle's eyes widened, "Oh, you're so pretty," she said which made me blush, I had never been called pretty.

"And that hair, my god," Kit gushed as he ran his hand on my hair.

Maria walked behind me to get me ready, "You're a long way from home, aren't you?" she asked.

I nodded. Everyone can leave their kingdom if they want to, they just don't know that I left as a criminal.

They dampened my hair and started applying the dye. I didn't know much about the process, I just hoped my hair wouldn't be fucked up afterward.

"Hey, guys," the wooden door swung open again and the red-haired witch entered.

"Hey Natalia," Kit greeted her as he gently brushed my hair back.

"Hey pretty," Isabelle also greeted as she gathered the hair Kit already separated.

Natalia looked at us in confusion. "What are you guys doing?" She asked as she stared at my white hair.

"We're helping Hawk change her hair before she travels to Gona tomorrow," Maria explained as she applied more dye to my hair.

Natalia nodded as she studied me further, "Your hair is very rare, good call on changing it up," she said and sat by the couch to watch.

"Where's Malin?" Kit asked.

Natalia waved her hand, "She's with Leo and Alia planning some Kingdom stuff before we get too distracted with the wedding," she said.

Maria, Kit, and Isabelle turned to Natalia. "Why aren't you there?" Maria turned and faced Natalia seriously, "You know you're going to be a Royal right? You need to get used to those kinds of meetings," Maria continued.

Natalia took a deep breath, "I know, Malin's been an amazing help in making me adjust." She said and sighed, "I just... I want to spend these last few days with you guys before we leave," she said, her green eyes shining from the idea of leaving.

"Oh, you," Maria said before she let go of my hair to hug Natalia as Isabelle and Kit followed suit. They went for a group hug as I awkwardly sat here feeling like I was intruding on a private family moment with my hair partially wet and unevenly coated with dye.

How long are they gonna hug for? Because it's getting more awkward by the minute.

"Oh, we're going to miss you so much," Isabelle said with teary eyes.

I looked down to give them privacy. Something inside me ached as I saw them and the reality of having no one felt heavy in my heart.

"You can stay here and watch us fix Hawk up before she leaves tomorrow," Maria gave Natalia a last hug before heading toward me.

I sighed. This is going to be a long day.
