Hawk / Hartley / Rebecca

As soon as I watched Ramona leave Gona through the large gates riding in her carriage and accompanied by her group of knights, I felt the dread trickle through my body.

I'm on my own again.

I started to plan all the things that I should do while I walked on the stone path and sauntering away from the large open gates.

I need to go back to the town hall to speak with the king alone. He'll give me my room key and get someone to lead me to my new quarters.

My problem is how to get my things from my old servant's room. All my gold is there hiding behind a beam, so I need to get everything before they start to notice that their "servant Hartley" is not coming back and they decide to clean my room for the next new servant.

First, I need to sneak inside the main castle without any of the maids seeing me and without Princess Faith hearing me.

Second, Robin would still think that that room is where he'll stay, so I need to introduce him to the new room as home.

Step by step.

I headed for the town hall for the second time today. The royal guards bowed as I passed by and the maids greeted me as they carried out their duties.

My chin raised and my back straightened. My body immediately reacted to the new role I had to play.

I watched royals every day as I served as a royal guard and suddenly all that knowledge I gained about their mannerisms and routines made its way to my forefront.

I didn't know Rebecca or how she acted but it was easy to guess. Royals are very similar in the way they speak and move.

So now, I'm Rebecca. The cousin of the Dark Royal, a princess to a small Kingdom and an avid traveler.

I entered the large doors looking around for the king. I want to get this over with. The large table greeted me and King Matthew was seated behind it with a glass of moonshine, looking more troubled by the day. I'm sure his associates pissing Ramona off must have added to his stress.

"Your Highness," I greeted.

He looked up and instantly gave me a wide smile. "Oh dear, you don't have to call me that." He gave me a teasing smile as he petted his beard, "You're practically married to my daughter, you can call me father if you'd like," and then he full-on belly laughed and I awkwardly chuckled.

I didn't know what to say, so we were surrounded by a few seconds of awkward silence.

I cleared my throat, "You have my key, Your Highness?"

"Oh! Of course," He bent and rummaged at his table drawer and then pulled out a metal key. "I'll have someone to show you your quarters."

I nodded, "Thank you," I said as he put the key in my hand. The door opened behind me and a maid (who I was glad wasn't familiar to me) entered and bowed. "Follow her and she'll lead you to your quarters and assist you in everything you need."

"Thank you," I said again before following the young maid. She politely smiled at me before leading me out of the room. She kept a few steps away from me out of respect until we reached the towering building.

It was similar to the main castle, only a little smaller, but had the same amount of intricate details and decor. Two royal guards greeted us just like in any building.

The moment we entered, I was greeted by a large staircase that covered most of the first floor. There was no kitchen on the left like in the main castle, instead, it had a large fireplace that could probably warm a whole village.
