HAWK

I headed downstairs to get Princess Faith her tea. I entered the busy kitchen and went straight to Lady Antonette to tell her about Princess Faith's current state.

"What?! The Princess is sick?" She asked me with an accusing glare as if I was the one who gave her the sickness.

I nodded and looked down at the floor like the obedient maid that I was.

"Ugh. Do I have to do everything around here!" She stomped her way to the pantry to fix up Princess Faith's tea.

I leaned on the table to wait for Lady Antonnete when someone leaned on the table beside me. "What happened?" I turned to see Lily with her hair in a bun above her head and a smile on her face.

I shrugged, "Princess Faith is sick. She was still in bed when I delivered her breakfast," I shared with a sigh. I felt a little guilty because I was the one who pushed her to the river and I felt even more guilty that I found the memory a little funny.

Lily frowned, "Oh. That's too bad, but don't worry Lady Antonette makes the best healing tea in Gona," then she leaned towards me, "Even if she's a little crazy." I smiled as she finished speaking.

"Big girl!" I rolled my eyes as I heard Lady Antonnete's voice from inside the pantry.

"See you around," I mumbled to Lily and went to the pantry. It was a decent-sized room with shelves of all the vegetables, fruits, and seasonings you could possibly look for.

I saw Lady Antonette as she finished preparing the tea and putting it on a tray with soup and then she passed it to me. "Don't touch the food," she gave me a warning glare.

I nodded with a clench of my jaw. What did she think? I would drink this myself or maybe add my signature seasoning?

I tried to calm myself as I walked up the steps heading for the third floor. I was starting to get used to the abuse of power these people do.

I reached the open hallway and knocked on Princess Faith's chambers. "Come in," she called behind the door. Her voice was weaker and hoarser compared to when I left earlier.

I entered the room and saw that she looked worse than before. Her face was pale and her eyes were barely open.

"Princess?" I asked softly as I entered.

Suddenly, a little person walked out of the closet. It was Prince Jude. He was wearing a gold-accented coat that made him look older than ten years old.

"Hi," he greeted with a smile. He looks so much like Princess Faith with his black hair and blue eyes, and that charming smile.

I bowed, "Your Highness," I greeted.

He sat on the floor crossing his legs and pulling out a Draughts board behind him and laying it on the floor.

"Faith and I always play Draughts when she's sick to make her feel better," he said and pulled out a bag of dark and light wooden circular pieces. That gave me a slight surprise because Royals usually play chess while lower-ranking people are the ones that usually play Draughts.

I turned to see Princess Faith roll over to face us and pull the blanket up to her chin. Her eyes landed on mine when Prince Jude continued, "But she can't today," He said and Princess Faith turned to give him an apologetic smile, "Sorry buddy," her voice croaked.

I couldn't blame her. She looked so pale and sickly that I knew she would have difficulty sitting up, let alone playing.

I walked towards her and passed her tea, "Thanks," she said and tried to sit up but winced from the headache.
