The heat of the morning sun was blazing hot. It wasn't new to me since I stayed in Trolux for quite a while before I continued to travel but it was still something I couldn't get used to.

I was born and raised in the Kingdom of all ice and snow. This was the opposite of what I'm used to.

I wiped my face dripping in sweat, reached for one of my bags behind me, and rummaged to get a piece of bread. I've been traveling for three hours into the morning, and two hours since I last saw a single town.

I was surrounded by wide meadows and lengthy rivers that didn't seem to end, at least Robin was having the time of his life flying around me. The first time he flew I was worried he was trying to leave and maybe fly back to Vitalis but he was only gone for a few minutes and came back with a full belly. I guess he was tired of the dry bread I kept giving him.

I took my first bite of my bread before the expected happened. I was thrown to the edge of my seat as my back wheel broke off and unbalanced my whole wagon.

The unexpected was it lasted this long before it gave up.

I jumped off the wagon and looked at the damage. "Fuck," I mumbled as I looked at the wooden wheel that had some of the wooden bars broken in two. I sighed and opened the back of the carriage to get the other wheel.

I crouched and elevated the wagon with a couple of big rocks and pulled the wheel off before attaching the new one. I threw the old one back in the wagon to not waste the wheel and maybe get it repaired when I leave Gona and head for Vitalis.

I wiped my hand on my trousers before jumping back on the wagon. I just lost half an hour on my trip. Hopefully, the other wheel doesn't break off and waste more of my time.

I continued with my trip for another three hours before I finally started seeing Kingdom Gona in the distance. Robin seemed more excited as he jumped off my shoulder to flap his wings and fly high up to get a good look at the kingdom and I knew he'd be flying for a while.

It was a little different from the other Kingdoms I've seen, with its tall walls and its pointy timber spires, the buildings stood like a tower, higher than any castle I've been to.

It also had smaller castles surrounding the main castle with a lush forest around it from where I could see.

I looked up at its walls as my wagon got closer and closer to the entrance.

I took a deep breath. A brand new chapter and another set of hardships.

Hopefully, it's the last one before I get my ship and disappear in the face of the earth.

I stopped at the entrance with two knights guarding the front. I jumped off my wagon to greet them.

"Who tries to enter?" The deep loud voice of the knight boomed.

I cleared my throat, "I'm here as a servant for hire, Sir," I informed respectfully and bowed my head; not making any eye contact.

He came closer and then pushed my hood roughly off my head as he took a good look at me. I buried the instinct to kick his teeth in as he walked around me.

I was pretty tall and tried to make myself smaller by pushing my shoulders forward and curving my back because the knight was a little shorter than me as it is.

"Shouldn't your hair be longer?" He asked as he touched my newly dyed dark hair.

My hair reached my shoulders, I didn't think it would be a problem. I should've done more research on this Kingdom before I accepted this mission. Was it offensive to have it short? This Kingdom is so different that I have no idea what things they believe in.
