"He's her only grand pickney and the only one mih go do mih all fih get outta har reach. Next thing yuh know him sick out outta dih blue or shi tek sum'n fih him just fih duh a DNA test. If shi nuh find way dweet already cause shi sly like Swiper." She sigh, putting the last item of clothing she had inside the drawer.

Yes mon, move Ameer ova yah. A dat mih want.

Affi si André change diapers.

"Ehh. A how ya guh through with the wedding then?" That question made her frown and sigh even louder. "A tears dat, Lani? Wahmn'?"

Mih neva know Dainty did a stress after har pregnancy and mih wouldn't want the same happen to this cousin.

The least mih can be now is the rich aunty since a rich man want mih. Affi tek care a mih family.

"Him... Him nuh bring it up fih the longest and because mih nuh like force people inna things dem nuh wah duh, mih nuh seh nothing bout it. Him already get what him and him family want, a baby. Mih deh ya a seh him mother a Swiper, him a one tu cause watch ya." She gestured to Ameer who was staring at me with a wet drooling smile. "Look an si if nothing changes."

"Maybe it will." I shrugged, putting some hand sanitizer on my hand and rubbing it in.

Mih know if mih seh it to André things go fix.

Eh man nuh waste time or go roun' corner.

"Mhmm. If dat gwaan mih give yuh ten thousand dollars outta him wallet. If nothing happen mih give yuh fifty from mine."

Watch yah.

"No bother wid it." I laughs and she wipe her tears. "Him go busy enuh cause him work and go forget..."

She lift her hand and shows me her empty finger. "Two weeks it off fah already and him nuh notice. Yuh feel if mih replace mih self wid sumaddy else him go realize. Foodie a dih only reason mih might stay likkle bit."

"Ameer boy, yuh daddy need fih step up him game if him nuh wah lose mommy." I tell him, throwing a blanket on my shoulders then took him up.

Zyair go mek André angry enuh, and it's not a pretty look.

Ameer was the happiest in my arms as he starts cooing.

"Yes." I smiled and he makes even more noises. "Mommy, get some rest mek mih guh si how André gwaan wid baby. Mih have juice and cheese sticks ova ya suh rest yuh breast milk."

"Yuh nuh easy enuh." She laughed, sending me away as he was now in good hands.

His eyes looking the brightest when he saw that he was leaving the room.

Leaving Ameer with André after sometime, I went and prepared an early dinner. Peppery curry shrimp with rice and steamed cabbage as the side. Making some lemonade in the process.

Something easy and simple.

I brought Beyú's share to her room and returned to serving André then took Ameer who still had his eyes opened watching the TV.

When I returned to the room, Beyú had finished the food and went back to sleep which was good.

Best believe mih stuff Ameer even more.

It was in the evening when Zyair came and André didn't look happy.

"She's gone?" André asked before his cousin could say anything.

"No..."

"Then what are you doing here?" He inquired from Zyair.

"To talk to my wife..."

I laughed loudly without a care, knowing Ameer won't woke up as he's tired, got his tummy filled and had a little bath before he's knocked out.

"I'm sorry bruh, but I don't see a ring on that finger so march your way off my property. When your mother is gone you'll see your 'baby mother' again."

"What?" He asked and I smiled at what I revealed to André.

"You know I'm not one to repeat myself little cousin. Have a good night. An she might be here for a while."

"Can I at least see my son?" Zyair says rather stressed.

"No. My house, my rules. He's on millions of pictures and videos on your phone, look at it. An while you're on your way out, keep in mind that an happy wife makes an happy life."

A bit after that was the sound of the front door closing and I returned to cleaning up a so I won't do it tomorrow.

More time to have André close to me.

I was about to enter the living room when I heard Beyú's voice so I stopped.

"I'm sorry for bothering you but I think you're the right person to say this to." She spoke.

"If it's about Mariah Hail, I know what she did to you and all that happened in the past. I'm well aware of the conversation she had with my uncle. Don't worry about it Lani, I've got enough planned for her already." André informed her and I was a bit confused. "She's here because she's curious that he's dead but she's still getting messages from his phone. Just ignore her and leave everything to Zyair and myself."

That's suspicious.

"I would like if you stay over tonight." He told me as I entered the room when Beyú left.

"Okay." I blushed, walking close to him to get seated next to him but he takes me on his lap. "I should be taking a shower now, I smell like everything."

"More like curry and Ameer." He tells me and I smile.

"So, I realized your family is lucky with having male first." I spoke, admiring him as whatever was playing on the television wasn't of importance.

"I guess so." He nods. "An you're a natural when it comes to Ameer or is it with all babies?"

"A good amount, but I prefer boys. I had the experience with Kyng so Ameer is a complete gem. We barely have boys in our family but Mommy believe our second generation will be males as Dainty, Oshane and Beyú."

"What do you think you'll have?" His answer makes me laugh.

"I'll be the rich cousin since I'm an only child." The laughed fades into a smile. "With all these things going on around me, it's dangerous going down death road for a man who won't appreciate me enough and a child that might stress me more than I did my parents. I don't know. I don't plan my future with that decision in it. I'll need a backup plan."

"For what reason you'll need that?" He looks at me with an unread expression but I didn't question it.

"I'll need to be financially stable and prepared to bring a child into this world. Enough money to get me pass the postpartum period a little of other stuff." I eyes his expression but changed the topic. "I'm inviting you to a event."

I got out my phone and showed him the poster.

"Agricultural show?"

"Yep. Now that you're living here you'll need plants on the property just how I'm going to buy a goat I can butcher for my birthday next year." I beamed and he laughs.

"You're a rare gem, Lázuri Scott." He kisses my forehead. "A rare gem indeed."
