It was about two weeks later when the life Min Sun had gotten used to turned upside down. She had finally figured out her routine with school and work, and figured out the schedule of her friends who constantly came around. She had decided that since the first couple days she was stuck in this world, she probably wasn't going back anytime soon so she may as well try to get used to it.
She was walking back from class one afternoon enjoying the scenery around her. The weather had turned colder and the days were getting darker fast. She looked to the convenience stores and housing units similar to my own, the trees spread along the roadway, and the way the last rays of sunlight filtered through the leaves making the walk home pleasantly warm. She took note of the lamps along the roadway which had turned on signaling that it was gonna be dark soon.
She hummed a song she didn't know the name of as she walked up the steps to her house. She had almost reached the door when she started to look for her keys. When she had finally found them she looked up to see her door standing wide open. She paused for what felt like a minute and felt her stomach begin to twist in knots. Before she could fully think it through, she took her keys into her hand like a weapon and entered the house, her mind taking in the images before her.
The kitchen had been trashed. The cabinet doors had been thrown open, and the drawers below had been pulled out and thrown on the ground. There were utensils as well as broken glass that littered the ground all the way to the entryway. She stared at the mess in front of her before turning to look into the living room and she felt her chest tighten. The TV in the middle of the room was smashed, pieces of glass littered the floor in front of it. Papers were strewn around the floor, a bookshelf and the couch were turned over as well. A little ways away from the furniture there was a puddle of water and she looked to see that the glass tank that used to hold her fish had broken. She looked up to her bedroom door and froze as she saw a note pinned with one of her kitchen knives.
'Welcome Home'
She could feel the bile raising up in her throat. She had to get out, she needed to get out. She took a few cautious steps back worried that the person behind this was still there. She kept walking back until she finally got outside and continued until her back hit the railing behind her. She held on to the railing and stared at the door almost wondering if the person who did this was still inside. Finally she reached for her phone and called the emergency number.
"Hello, how may I assist you?" The man on the other end spoke with such a monotone voice it almost had her questioning if he was concerned about her issue at all.
"Hi. Do you think you could send someone out to my residence?" She barely recognized the sound of her own voice. It felt like it wasn't even hers in that moment. "What do you need them for?" His voice stayed just as calm and monotone as before and she wanted to yell, to scream at him.
"My house was broken into.." She trailed off all traces of anger leaving her body.
"Okay can you give me your address I will dispatch officers to your location momentarily." She could hear the clacking of his keyboard as he finally got into action. After giving him her address she barely remembered hanging up the phone as she still stared at the door praying that no one was still inside.
She knew she needed to call someone, she knew she didn't need to be alone right now.
She went to her contacts and called the person she truly wanted with her right now. She realized in these past two weeks how much their friendship really meant to her. They had gotten much closer after the study group and her feeling for him grew tremendously no matter how much she tried to ignore them.
"The number you have called is not available, please leave a message at the tone." The automated voice rang in her ears. She hung up the phone and stared at the contact name as it blinked before returning to her home screen.
>HANNIE>
She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and raised her hands to dial again. The same automated voice greeted her and she felt the tears accumulate in her eyes. She hung up again and lowered the phone to her side and stared up at the sky. She wanted to curse and she wanted to scream, but she knew she didn't have time for that.
She closed her eyes and wiped away the tears that fell before looking down at her phone and deciding to call someone she knew would be on their phone at this very moment.
The ringing from the call matched the amount of anxiety that was swelling in her chest. She brought her hand up to her mouth and began to chew on one of my fingernails.
How could this happen, why did this happen, what did she do to have this happen? Those were all the thoughts swirling through her head.
"Hey Y/N! What's up?" As soon as she heard his voice she breathed a sigh of relief. In that moment she realized how truly scared she was and how she didn't want to be alone anymore.
"Y/N? Hello?" She heard him continue and she felt the tears collect in her eyes again.
"Innie?" God how broken she sounded. She was scared. She was scared that the person who did this was still in the house, she was scared of the note, and she was scared of the mess that was left behind.
"Y/N? What's wrong why does it sound like you are crying?" Jeongin sounded worried. She didn't want to make him worry, but when her eyes faced the door in front of her and then to the sun falling behind the horizon she knew she couldn't be here alone for much longer.
"Can you or someone come over to my house?" She asked as steady as she could. She had finally closed her eyes to try and block out the the scene in front of her but it just continued to play over and over inside her head.
"Y/N? What happened?" Jeongin asked but she could hear him talking to someone else in the background. She tried her best to tell him what happened without bursting into tears but there was no stopping them.
"My house..someone broke into my house." She finally let out and the lump that had settled into her throat came out as a pitiful cry. She couldn't hear Jeongin anymore and she was pretty sure at some point he hung up on her. She lowered herself to the ground, hand over her mouth to try and silence her cries as she opened her eyes to stare at the open door. She didn't want to be here anymore, she didn't want to see this place anymore, and she wanted this to be a nightmare and to wake up.
At some point her tears had stopped, but she never let her eyes wander from the door ahead. The sun was still setting and the orange and purple hue scattered the ground around her. When were the police going to arrive?
Soon she heard three voices yelling her name and when she pulled her eyes away from the door, she looked over to the steps as three people arrived at the top. The first one up was Jeongin and the two behind him were Chan and Felix. Jeongin saw her against the wall and rushed over and pulled her into a hug. She held on to him so tight she probably was hurting him but he didn't complain. She looked up to Chan and Felix and saw they were both looking into the house. They had turn on the light and were both looking inside with shocked faces. She didn't blame them, she probably looked exactly like them when she saw the mess inside.
She felt a hand on the back of her head caressing her hair and heard Jeongin talking to her. "It's okay, we are right here." It was like he knew what she needed to hear and she buried her face into Jeongins shoulder as more tears began to fall.
She heard the shuffling of feet beside her and when she looked up she saw Chan on the ground beside Jeongin. She gave him a smile, pathetic as it was. "Y/N, can you tell us what happened?" He asked in a tone that one would probably use on a small child.
She nodded despite the fact the whole situation made her sick to my stomach.
