Han POV
"Don't you think this is too much just to ask someone to move in with you?" Seungmin questioned setting the flowers down on the edge of the blanket.
"Probably, but Han likes to have a flare for the dramatics." Lee Know quipped in setting down the food in the middle of the blanket. Haewon came behind him and set down the candles before re-arranging the whole setting not enjoying how the boys had put down their things.
"I don't think you guys understand. I have asked her...several times but she always changes the subject or tells me it isn't the right time. I just want to try one last time. Then I will give up asking." Han leaned his head back against the trunk of the tree next to the blanket. He opened his eyes to look up to the cloudy sky. If he didn't know any better he thought it might rain.
"I wonder why she keeps rejecting. She is crazy about you." Haewon said from her position on the ground. She kept swatting away Lee Know's hand every time he tried to move something. It was quite entertaining watching him maneuver to move something and get smacked on the wrist.
"I wish I knew.." He looked down to the finished product and smiled. It was his own idea, he just needed the people to help pull this off. He learned from helping Changbin with his proposal that sometimes more heads is better than one.
"Well I think my job here is done, I'll take these two with me, you just get ready to call her okay?" Haewon yanked Lee Know's arm away from the blanket and started dragging him to the car. Seungmin wished Han good luck and followed the pair towards the car. Han watched the group pull away from the park and pulled out his phone feeling his mouth go dry.
He went to his contacts clicking on her name before holding the phone up to his ear. His heart was hammering louder than the ringing of the phone and he felt slightly close to throwing up. His nerves were getting the better of him. When it came to her he felt like a high school kid experiencing their first love.
"Hey bub!" Her voice flooded the phone causing Han to smile.
"Hey sweetheart what are you doing?" He looked down to the blanket below with everything that his friends had helped set up. It was simple but he knew more than anything that she would love it.
"I just left So-Hee's house! She wanted some help setting up things in her house since Changbin was at work. Now I'm on the way home, what about you?" Her cheerful voice came through the phone. His nerves slowly faded listening to her voice and he was for sure that this time he would get her to say yes.
"Actually do you mind coming by Hwang park? Chan had to run home to Haewon and left me here at the park." He lied hoping it sounded convincing enough to get her to come by.
"Oh wow really? I can be over there in 15 minutes probably. I can't believe he did that though, there was a really good chance of rain today." Han looked up to the dark clouds and almost cursed out loud. Of course the one time he has everything planned out and got some help something like this would happen.
"Right...I'll see you when you get here okay?" They both said their goodbyes before hanging up and Han looked from the clouds above to the blanket below. Suddenly he felt a drop of water hit his head and then one drop became two drops and two drops became a downpour.
"Well shit." Han looked down to the blanket below and panicked trying to wrap up everything. He closed the containers for the food, put the flowers in the middle of the blanket with the candles and wrapped it all up in the blanket to try and prevent it from getting wet. Han really hoped that everything inside stayed dry, even though the chances of that were slim.
When Min-Sun got there she ran out towards Han holding an umbrella. She looked from Han to the blanket raising an eyebrow before tugging on his sleeve trying to get him to go toward the car. Han grabbed the blanket ran towards the car putting the blanket bundle in the backseat before he took a seat in the passenger seat.
From the driver seat, Min-Sun was laughing as she turned on the car and turned up the heat. They both were shivering from the cold rain and the heat was helping them, if nothing else, to keep from getting hypothermia.
"Wow! Who would have thought it was going to be a downpour. I swore it only said a 30% chance of rain!" Min-Sun laughed looking out the window as the rain pelted the window. Han watched her and smiled at how no matter how bad a situation was going she could still smile. Min-Sun turned to look at Han and her expression changed as she watched him.
"Han are you okay?" She asked searching his eyes.
"I'm fine." He lied smiling. He really didn't want her to know about what had happened since it had backfired on him. He was embarrassed more than anything.
"Okay." Min-Sun looked out the window watching the trees bend with the wind. He watched her for a few moments before looking out the window at the rain as well.
"So...what were you doing with that cute blanket out there?" She asked nonchalant as she turned to face the wheel and messed with the headlights.
"I..." Han paused before deciding that he should just tell her. "I.. was trying to set up this nice picnic date for you..but as you can see I didn't plan it on the best day.." He gestured to the rain outside the car embarrassed.
"Well..what if we still go on this nice picnic date? That is if you are up for it?" Min-Sun smiled over to Han who raised his eyebrow in question.
"Well let's go to your place for the night okay? I don't know if I want to drive all the way back to my place. Plus you don't live far from here." She winked before backing out of the parking lot and driving to Han's place. Han smiled at her attempt to cheer him up.
The whole ride to Han's was peacefully quiet with both of them enjoying the pattering of the rain against the car.
When they both reached Han's place, Min-Sun left the umbrella in the car and helped Han open the backseat and take the blanket up the stairs. She unlocked the door letting them both inside and they both took off their shoes heading for the living room.
Han set the blanket down on the ground next to the coffee table wondering what in the world he should do with it. Before he had a chance to think too hard about it Min-Sun bent down and began to untie it. She undid it revealing the flowers which petals were torn up from the transfer, candles, and food that had become slightly crushed.
"Well we don't want it to go to waste right? How about you go take a shower and I'll work on all this okay?" Han watched her carefully pick up the flowers and food before heading towards his room. Once there he went to his closet and grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
He went into the bathroom and got into the shower letting the warm water roll over him thinking about how everything got so messed up.
