„Agent y/l/n, where are you?"

Furys voice cut sharp through my phone.

„God, I'm on the plane", I hissed.

It was Friday, early afternoon. The plane was just about to land. It was only a two hour flight. After the night of the order I immediately returned to the U.S. as I saw no point in staying in Berlin for another three days.

During the past seven months I traveled through Europe a lot. I started in northern Finland where I stayed a couple of weeks, went backpacking through Latvia and Lithuania for a few days before I made my way to Berlin. Originally I only wanted to stay a few nights but somehow I fell in love with the city that was almost as broken and restless as I was. After that I only took short trips around Europe, always returning to Berlin. It had become my home and it somehow made my wild thoughts a little more calm.

I never made sure that I was hidden. I wasn't on the run.
I told Fury that I couldn't work for the Avengers anymore and that I needed time and space. Maybe I should have stayed a bit more under cover. But as much as I hate to admit it: Part of me always wanted to be found.

Yet I was annoyed that I was forced to return.

I immediately booked a flight to the U.S. I stayed at a hotel close to the airport and slept the jetlag off. Of course I didn't tell Fury about that. I gave him wrong informations on my flight.

After I hissed at him on the phone he hung up.
Hopefully he already regretted commanding me back.

„Asshole", I whispered.

The woman next to me let out a little laugh.
„Sorry, I didn't mean to listen in."

I smiled. No problem. I wasn't very quite anyways.

„Your boss?", she asked.

„Unfortunately", I replied.
„Called my vacation off early", I added not to be too weird.

„Asshole", she repeated and laughed.

I nodded.

„You should definetely give him a hard time the next few days. Make him pay for ruining your vacation." She smiled mischievously.

„I will", I promised.

At the airport a driver escorted me to the typical black SUV and drove me to the compound. He told me to leave my suitcase as he would bring my stuff in. Fury already waited impatiently.

„You're late."

„Indeed", I said.

„You were supposed to land an hour ago."

„Is that what I told you?"

The mischievous smile on my face told Fury that he was in for a hell of a ride with me this time. I was still mad at him. I didn't want to be here.

But he was right, I was contractually committed to national and international security. If I didn't obey his orders, I would be declared a potential threat to national and international security and get locked away in a prison. Since I helped to lock up most psychopaths in S.H.I.E.L.D.S. prison I wasn't really thrilled about the idea of being imprisoned myself.

„You will now be reunited with your teammates", Fury said.
He already knew it wasn't going to be happy family reunion.

„Can't wait", I said deadpanned.

Most of the Avengers were already waiting in the conference room. Fury never came around for some silly chats. When he was around something had to be up. Still wondering what he might have in store this time, they didn't hear us enter the room.

„You're already here, great. Saves us a lot of time", Fury started.

„We figured you might -" Tony stopped talking at the sight of me.

He could only bring out a small whisper of my name.

„You're back."
Steve looked at me in awe. He sounded relieved.

Excited Wanda got off her seat and made her way towards me:
„How was your mission?"

She wanted to hug me but I stopped her.
„Mission?", I asked sarcastically.

Wanda backed away in surprise. My cold reaction caught her off guard.

I turned to Fury: „You told them I was on a mission?"

Now everyone turned to him.

„I had to tell them something."

„I told you to tell them the truth!", I yelled.

„And what truth would that be?", Steve tried to ease the tension.

I still looked at Fury but still he didn't have the guts to be honest.

So with anger I turned to face everyone:
„I left, Steve. I left this fucking team. And damn you, I never wanted to return again!"

Everyone fell silent in shock.

Tony was the first one to break the silence:
„Then why are you back?"

I threw a sharp look to Fury:
„An international arrest warrant."

„What does all of that mean?" Steve couldn't wrap his mind around these little pieces of information.

Tony also had trouble painting the bigger picture:
„I think there is a lot of explaining to do."
His eyes went back and forth between Fury and me.

I was already fed up with this whole situation and I didn't feel like I was the one owning any explanation whatsoever. I made it very clear that I was leaving the team for good. I gave Fury all my reasons and trusted him to bring my message to the team. I wasn't the one lying. So this interrogation sucked.

„You know what", I started and immediately got everyones attention.
„This one is on you, Fury. I don't know what messed up game you were playing these past seven months but I'm already tired of it. So if anyone could tell me which room is mine, I'm out of here."

Wanda teared up. This whole situation was too much for her.
„The same as always. We never touched it.", she whispered.

Before anyone could say anything else I left the conference room and made my way back to my room.
