After defeating Paul, you all made it to Oreburgh City.
The next challenge was at the Oreburgh City Gym.
The gym was a huge mine where you had to move rocks in order to reach the Gym Leader, Roark.

Roark (He is a miner who specializes in Rock-Type Pokemon! His favorite pastime is to mine for rare fossils!)
Roark: Well, looks like you made it! Let's see if I can put an end to your win streak!
(Y/N): You seem to have a lot of enthusiasm!
Roark: I get it from somewhere. Now, let's battle!
(Y/N): RIGHT!
Roark: Go Geodude!
(Y/N): Go Monferno!
Roark: Geodue, use Stealth Rock!
(Y/N): Monferno, use Rock Smash!
Monferno quickly began to rush at Geodude as it tried to make itself visible, and then the attack knocked Geodude out instantly!
Roark: Fast Monferno you have there! Return Geodude, go Onix!
After Roark summoned Onix, you decided to formulate a plan in order to knock it out fast.
Roark: Use Screech, Onix!
(Y/N): Use Mach Punch, Monferno!
Monferno nodded and even though its defenses fell, the punch did major damage to Onix!
Roark: Onix is too injured, should I risk using Earthquake at this point? Or-
(Y/N): Monferno, use Mach Punch again, finish Onix!
Monferno did so, and even though Roark commanded Onix to dodge, Monferno was too fast.
Another Mach Punch knocked out Onix!
Roark: Alright, guess it's time for my ace.
He returns Onix, and-
Roark: LET'S GO CRANIDOS!!! Use Headbutt!
(Y/N): Grab it, Monferno!
Monferno grabbed Cranidos by the head and then suplexed it.
(Y/N): Now use Flame Wheel!
Monferno spun it around and around into a fiery wheel before throwing it into a boulder, and knocking it out.
Roark: Well, looks like you did it. I shouldn't have underestimated you. That Monferno is very powerful. Now here. Take this.
He hands you the Coal Badge.
(Y/N): Great! Only 7 more to go!
Roark: You're going to need that Monferno to get stronger. Gardenia is no pushover.
