I'm going on a date! I'm going on a date!

I kept pacing in my office after Philip left. The adrenaline hasn't died down. Merde. Merde. Merde.

"Miss Marceline?" Tanong ni Winnie na sumilip sa opisina ko.

"I'm going on a date, Winnie." I blurted at her. I've never been so psyched up like this. Not since I launched my ARCE line.

Pumalakpak ito. "May isusuot na po ba kayo?"

I stopped pacing. I never designed a dress for me for the ball. "I don't have anything to wear."

"Hindi pwedeng sa catalog ka lang, Miss. Dapat ikaw ang pinakamaganda."

I sat on my drawing table. Napatingin ako sa tattoo ko. Is it just a coincidence that I also wanted a wave as a major part of my design?

Iniwan ako ni Winnie para tapusin ang design ko. Nang matapos ko iyon ay ipinakita ko iyon sa kanya.

"How does that look? It will go with whichever suit he chooses. Or I can try to create another one. Oh my gosh what if he doesn't like it? Merde."

I am so excited!

I kept myself busy for the rest of the day. I had work to catch up on. Before I went home, I called Maman.

"How's my beautiful girl? You look happy."

"I am Maman." I can't stop grinning. I've never felt so excited I can feel it in my veins.

"Is it the upcoming Valentine's ball? You're usually stressed during this season." Worry was etched on her beautiful face. Maman has aged very beautifully throughout the years.

"I was. I mean I still am. But I think for a good reason."

"Really?" The shock was written on her face. I am usually sad during this season because as much as I want to date, I am too scared.

"I have a date, Maman."

She was silent for a few minutes. "And this lucky guy is?"

"His name is Philip. And he asked me to go to the ball with him."

"And does he know...?"

I nodded. "He does, Maman. He told me we can try to work it out before the ball."

"But you've been trying for the past decade."

"I told him that and he still wants to try." I tried not to sound too dreamy.

Her eyes turned watery. Maman always wanted me to date just because she thought I was missing out on the best experience during my prime. "Oh, Marceline. I can see how excited you are but I'm also worried. What if he doesn't want to go on after a few weeks? What if you don't work it out?"

Despite her pushing me to date, she can be a little bit pessimistic about dating. I want to feel sad that Maman thinks that. But then she has witnessed all my failed attempts in the past. I can't blame her.

"I still want to try, Maman. I feel different this time, you know?"

"Okay. Let me know how it works out. I want to meet him after if that is fine with you. I'm just here, okay?"

I nodded. "Yes, Maman. I love you."

"I love you too, darling."
