"Didn't know my boss was talking about you."

Nginitian ko si Calhoun. He asked me to dance after Chael did. Although shaking with cold and clammy hands, I survived.

"Boss?" Kumunot ang noo ko. I know that Calhoun used to be an actor. He is into directing movies now. Why is he referring to Philip as boss?

"Philip owns a lot of subsidiary production houses. He let me head one of the newest ones. So technically, yes he is my boss. He's a cool one."

"How's he as a boss?" Date Philip is sweet and thoughtful. I wonder what CEO Philip is like?

"Many of us were scared that he might not live to his grandfather's legacy. That he's just a typical nepo baby. Unlike Chairman Lito who formed the company from the ground up, Philip just received everything from his Lolo.

And he proved us wrong. The company underwent some drastic changes just because it transitioned to modern strategies. Not all were on board but with time, we saw the improvements. Even the viewership went up. Movies are all blockbusters. Celebrities had countless endorsements. People saw him in a different light. They embraced the adjustments and here we are. And as you can see, Philip can do the marketing himself with his looks. He can grace an event and people will clamour for him in the party itself and on social media. He's quite an eye candy."

I smiled, feeling proud of Philip. I for one knows how difficult it is to prove myself especially when everything is handed down to you. I tried to hide my emotions when he remarked people dropping to Philip's feet. I won't blame them. I am one of them.

"How's he as a date?" Nakangiting tanong nito.

"He's charming. Very gentlemanly. He's the reason I'm here tonight. The reason why I can dance with you right now." I looked at my shaky hands. "Or at least I'm trying."

"He's known to be a serial dater, Marceline. I say that because I know why. A few people know why."

I nodded. "I know why he is like that. He told me."

"That's good then. Aside from his interesting dating profile and history, he's a great guy. His grandfather speaks of him highly."

"What's his grandfather like?"

"Chairman Lito is loved by everybody. Down to earth. Very humble. Mas mayabang pa nga ang ibang artista lalo na iyung nga bago. He talked to everybody in his building. A trait Philip got from him."

"Have you met his family?" I know he isn't on really good terms with his family due to the inheritance dispute.

"On occasion. And all are not pleasant." Umiling ito habang tumatawa. "I can't say anything. They are still my boss' family."

"I understand."

He looked at me seriously. "You my wife's friend, Marceline. That makes you my friend too. And I look after my friends. Philip may be my boss but I wouldn't think twice if he does anything to you."

"I appreciate that, Calhoun. Really. He makes me happy. Something I haven't felt in a long time. It's the kind of happiness that makes you think that life is worth living. That waking up is a blessing. I'm not living in fear like I used to." This is why I see Amara, Luna, and Tabi as sisters from different mothers. We look after each other and that extends to their husbands.

"Then that's good. Just holler if you need me to beat him up."

I chuckled. I don't I will need it. I hope I won't need it.
