BIBLE POV
I sat in front of my computer screen, reviewing photos for a fashion magazine while waiting for my next session. It was a shoot for the international brand Valentino, featuring their new ambassador—a singer, actor, and even a part-time graphic designer who has designed his own posters. His name is Jeff Satur.
He became a sensation after starring in the action series KinnPorsche. I’m a fan of the show myself; the acting was incredible, especially the character Vegas. This would be my first time being hired to photograph Jeff, and I truly hoped today would go smoothly.
He was scheduled to arrive at 3:00 PM for hair and makeup so we could begin shooting by 4:00 PM. It was now 2:40 PM, and I was still glued to my screen. My heart was racing, though I couldn't explain why. Then, a scent hit me—fragrant, sweet like roses, but with a depth I couldn't describe. The smell grew stronger, closer.
"Stay calm, stay calm. It’s too early to be sure. Just stay calm," I whispered to myself.
My eyes snapped toward the main door just as someone stepped through.
"Hello, good afternoon."
It was Jeff Satur. The scent was coming from him. I struggled to maintain my composure.
"Hello... afternoon, Jeff. Please, come in. Your makeup artist is already in the back. You can get ready whenever you're prepared."
My skin felt like it was on fire.
"I—I need to step into the bathroom for a moment. Just take your time getting ready, okay?"
Shit. Why couldn't I look him in the eye? And how could anyone smell that good?
Once inside the bathroom, I splashed water on my face and stared into the mirror, breathing hard. My eyes were shifting—a deep, glowing blue with sparkling rings around the pupils.
"He is our mate," a voice echoed in my head.
"What?!" I gasped.
"I need to be calm, I need to be calm," I told the voice.
"You should be happy that we finally found him."
"Please, just stay down. I have to work, and we aren't certain yet. Change the eyes back; I’m going to scare people."
I sounded like a madman talking to myself, but it wasn't that simple.
"Change them now, Fenrir. I have a job to do."
"Fine. For now, Ben. But do not let our mate go."
Fenrir. That was the name of the voice.
I washed my face one last time, wiped it dry with my black shirt, and headed back to the studio. The set was ready—a simple backdrop with specialized lighting. I took a breath, determined not to let my internal chaos ruin the shoot.
"Hello again, Mr. Jeff. I’m Bible, but you can call me Ben. I’ll be your photographer today. Are you ready?"
"Just Jeff is fine," he replied with a smile.
"Okay, Jeff. We’ll do about 15 shots per outfit, though I’ll likely take more—mix of close-ups and full-body shots. For the final look, we need you in the tub with water. Are you okay with that?"
"I’m fine with it. Let’s get started."
...
I began directing his poses, trying to focus on the technical side of the lens.
"Our mate is so beautiful," Fenrir purred.
"Shh. It's too early," I snapped internally.
"Ben? Were you talking to me?" Jeff asked, tilting his head.
"No, Jeff! Sorry, just talking to myself."
"Is my pose not working?"
"No, no. Your poses are perfect. The shots are coming out beautifully. Really."
He smiled, and my heart hammered against my ribs.
For the final set, he changed into a white, silk-floral lace shirt and loose white pants. He looked ethereal. As he sat in the tub and the water began to soak through the fabric, the shirt became translucent, clinging to his frame.
"We want him, Ben."
I tried to ignore Fenrir’s growl. I needed to finish this quickly before I lost my grip.
"That’s a wrap! Jeff, you can head to the changing room now. Thank you."
As he stepped out of the tub, I reached out to help him, my hand brushing against his. Damn. The spark of physical contact sent a jolt through my entire being. It was dangerous. I needed to get home. Being this close to him was making me lose control.
"Thank you for today, Ben. Thank you so much," Jeff said warmly before walking out of the studio.
I moved in a blur, packing my camera, turn off the lights, and rushing to my car.
Who is Fenrir? And who is the real Bible Wichapas Sumettikul?
