BIBLE POV
"Good morning, my love."
"Aaah..."
"I'm sorry for being so harsh with you. Do you want me to carry you to the bathroom?" Jeff simply shook his head and gave me an 'okay' sign. "Let me check it for you..."
Jeff crossed his arms, his face turning bright red. He stood up slowly from the bed and limped toward the bathroom, one hand supporting his lower back.
When he emerged, he was wearing shorts and a plain tee. "Does it still hurt?" I asked. He just smiled and walked over to his notebook.
~ I want to walk through the local market and grab some food. I also want to say goodbye to an old lady; she owns a cafe and has been very nice to me.
He began writing again.
~ Let me pack my things and say goodbye to the owner.
"Let me help you, then."
We walked through the local market and sat at the cafe Jeff had mentioned. It had a beautiful view-vintage charm mixed with a modern interior. The atmosphere was incredibly chill, and the food was delicious.
"If you miss it here, we can come back whenever you want," I promised.
He smiled sweetly. I couldn't stop watching him eat.
"I can't describe how much I missed seeing you right in front of my eyes. I never want to be far from you again." He smiled, then looked down shyly. "I miss hearing you call my name. I will bring your voice back, no matter what."
It was almost dark by the time we arrived home. Before we started our journey back, I had called someone to drive Jeff's car back to Bangkok for him. There was no way I was letting him drive in his condition.
"My love, we're here. Please wake up... or do you want me to carry you?"
There was no response; he was clearly exhausted. I carried him inside, where my mother opened the door for us.
"Hi, Mom."
"How is he?"
"He's good. Just tired."
I carried him to my room, changed him into his pajamas, and tucked him under the comforter. I kissed his temple. He was in such a deep sleep that he didn't even wake while I was changing his clothes. I headed for the shower, my body feeling hot.
Downstairs, my mom was in the kitchen cooking while my dad watched TV.
"Are you hungry? I cooked for you and Jeff."
"Jeff is sleeping. I'm not very hungry right now, maybe later."
Dad joined us. "How is Jeff? I know it's hard for him, losing his voice."
"It hurts me that I can't hear him. I'll try my best to bring his voice back."
"Your brother and the elders have already returned to our hometown," Dad said. "They're looking for a solution. Perhaps another tribe has a history with this. Who knows?"
"I'll do my part, too." I stood up and walked toward the sliding door.
"Where are you going, son?"
"I haven't checked the jungle in a long time. I want to meet Mee Phan; I never properly thanked him for helping me before."
"It's been a long time, Mr. Wichapas. How are you?"
"I'm good, Mee Phan. How are you and the others?"
"We are well, though it's been lonely without you. How is Mr. Jeff?"
"He's back with me. He was sleeping when I left. I'm looking for a way to cure him."
"I'm sure you will find it soon. Nothing is incurable in this world except death."
"I hope so. Mee Phan, I'm going to run to the edge of the jungle, then back to the waterfall."
I began to run. Everything seemed quiet and safe. When I reached the waterfall, I sighed. "I missed it here."
I stripped down and stepped into the water. It was incredibly refreshing. The moon was bright, and the sky was a clear tapestry of stars. As I took in the view, I sensed someone approaching.
"Hi, my love. Why are you awake? How did you know I was here?"
He just smiled.
"Do you want to join me?"
He nodded and began to undress. Under the moonlight, his body was breathtaking. "So beautiful..."
He stepped into the water and moved toward me. I pulled him close, hugging him and kissing his head. "Are you cold?" He nodded slowly, so I held him tighter. "I love being here with you. Please, never leave me again."
I lifted his chin and kissed him softly. "Your skin is like a drug to me." He kissed me back, his touch igniting a fire in me.
"Jeff, my life feels complete again. It's like God gave me a new life. Without you, I was hollow. Now, it's a new start. Love... can I? I want to approach you as if it were our first time and oath my love to you again."
He nodded.
"I, Bible Wichapas Sumettikul-Alpha-take Jeff Warakamon Satoe as my Luna for the rest of my life. Only death shall part us."
I let the moon, the stars, and the waterfall be our witnesses. Jeff smiled, his eyes shining. I kissed his lips and moved down to his neck, licking the skin. "Please, endure this for a moment."
I bit into his neck with my fangs. A surge of electricity shot through my body. The wind seemed to howl around us. My eyes shifted to blue, and every nerve in my body stood on end.
"Ahhhh...!" The sound escaped Jeff's throat-a response to the bite.
I withdrew my fangs and gently licked the wound to soothe it. "Love, did it hurt much?"
"Emm... heh..." He smiled and kissed me, his passion matching my own.
"I miss your beautiful voice. I miss your moans in my ear when we make love." I cupped his face. "I want to be inside you."
"Emm..."
I lifted him onto a large rock. As I thrust inside him, I couldn't hold back. He let out a sharp sound, his nails clawing at my shoulders. I held him close, marking his neck and shoulders with red blossoms of affection. When I finally peaked, I felt completely surrendered to him.
"Oh my... I've made a mess of you." I cleaned him gently before carrying him back into the water. "Can you walk? Let's go back; we need a proper shower."
"I'm starving. Do you want to eat?" I asked after we had dried off and changed back into pajamas. Jeff nodded.
Downstairs, my parents were still in the kitchen. "Are you two hungry now? I made beef stew," Mom said.
"Yeah, we're starving."
As we ate, my mom reached out. "Jeff, I hope you are cured soon. I want you both to have a happy life." Jeff smiled and patted her hand.
Back in the room, Jeff took out his notebook.
~ Are you happy that I'm back?
"I'd be crazy if I wasn't. I feel like I want to hug you and never let go. Maybe even tie you to me," I joked. He laughed silently.
The next morning, I woke to the sound of a guitar. Jeff was playing a melody I didn't recognize.
"That sounds beautiful. Is it a new song?"
He nodded and wrote in his note:
~ Yeah, I wrote it while I was alone.
"What's the story behind it?"
~ I wrote it because I missed you. When it rains, I miss you even more. It's called 'Rain Wedding.' Here are the lyrics.
"Rain Wedding... it's beautiful, but so sad." He looked at the floor. I hugged him tightly, my heart aching because I knew how much he missed singing.
Suddenly, my phone rang. It was my brother.
"Hi, Ben. How is my brother-in-law?"
"We're good, man."
"I have news. I found a way to bring back Jeff's voice, but it's an old legend. You must bring him here immediately. The ritual requires a full moon-which is tomorrow night. Tell the parents, too, because this ritual is like a wedding. A 'Soul Wedding.'"
"Okay, we'll be there." I hung up and looked at Jeff. "Love, did you hear that?"
Jeff nodded.
"I'll call your mother and aunt. You pack what you need."
We caught a flight at 10 PM. My parents and Jeff's aunt flew with us; his parents would follow the next day.
"Are you nervous, my love?" I asked. Jeff nodded. "Me too. Even if this is a 'Soul Wedding,' to me, it's our real wedding... and I haven't even officially proposed yet."
My brother messaged me again, warning that the Soul Wedding was an ancient, rare, and serious ritual. Jeff took a deep breath and pulled me away from the others to find a private spot. He wrote:
~ I wish that one day you will truly ask me to marry you. To be together until the end. Do you know why I titled my song 'Rain Wedding'? I want to sing it for you as my wedding gift... if you ask me.
"I want to marry you, my love," I said, my eyes watering. "Imprinting on you isn't enough to show you how much I love you."
~I love you so much, Jeff.
Happy New Year 2026 and Happy Birthday to our beloved Bible Wichapas Sumettikul.
