VICTORIA DIDNT EVEN REALIZE HOW LONG SHE WAS OUTSIDE. Not until the patio door opened and Anthony came out for his first break.
"Jesus, how long has it been?" She asked with a small yawn, briefly closing her book so she could give him her attention.
"Only about two hours," he chuckled as he pulled out a cigarette from his pack and lit it, taking caution to not sit by her. A habit that should've grossed her out, however turned her on at this moment.
"You can sit," she offered, patting the spot next to her on the patio couch. He smiled at her and made his way over, sitting down and taking precaution that he wouldn't be too close.
"I just don't want to get the smoke in your face," he explained, making her nod in understanding.
"It's okay," she smiled at him, happy to just have him next to her. "How's work so far?"
"Same old. Looking over blue prints, designing, approving. All of that fun stuff," he said between a puff of smoke. Anthony is an engineer, and always tries to downplay his talent. Something that ticked off everyone. He even got to graduate a year early because he took so many of his college courses in high school. "What are you working on?" He nodded towards all of the supplies in her lap.
"Oh you know, same old," she joking mocked. "Just a lot of writing, which eventually turned into nonsense," she explained, not wanting to admit she spent most of her time writing about... him.
He found himself not wanting to go back inside, wanting to stay closer to her. Even if they didn't talk, just being in the same area as her would be enough.
"It's nice out," he pointed out. He looked over at her, noticing her nod in agreement.
"It is, it's a shame you're couped up inside," she responded, also wishing he could stay out here. But, neither of them would ever admit it. Especially now that he put out his cigarette and abruptly went inside. Trying to hide her disappointment, she tried to focus back on her reading.
But then the door opened again, and there he was with his laptop. So now, she was trying to hide her excitement as they both sat in a comfortable silence.

She heard a happy sigh from beside her a few hours later and the sound of a laptop closing.
"Perks of working from home; getting done with work early."
Just as he said that, her stomach growled loudly, making him chuckle and her blush from embarrassment.
"You sound a little hungry?"
"Yeah, just a tad," she joked back. "You know what I could go for right now?"
"Hm?"
"Your grilled cheese."
"How did I guess?" He joked as he stood up. Victoria put all her stuff away and followed him inside.
"I'm just going to put this stuff in my room!" She shouted as he went to the kitchen, with her going in the other direction.
Every visit, she always wanted him to make grilled cheese. Not only was grilled cheese her comfort food, the way he makes it is just phenomenal. He used mayo instead of butter, which made it taste so much better. The first time he told her about it, she was only six.
"Just trust me. Would I ever lie to you?"
The truth was, he never did. Anthony was always caring and protective over her, just like Vincent was. When she had her heart broken, they were always there. She never thought too much into it back then, as the men were like that with all of the girls, meaning Violetta and Catalina as well. The five of them were a pretty tight knit group, as their parents were also close back in the day. Which meant, they all literally grew up together.
As much as she hated being treated like 'the baby', it sometimes has its perks. Like right now, for example. Anthony dropping everything to make her a grilled cheese, as it was hard to tell the damn girl no.
Putting her stuff down, she decided she got tired of the dress with how cold it was in their condo. She quickly changed into a pair of leggings and a baggy hoodie, then made her way back out to the kitchen.
When Anthony laid eyes on her, he almost forgot how to breathe. In this moment, he realized that she indeed was not a baby, or the younger sister of his best friend. She was Victoria Kovac, the most beautiful woman he has ever laid eyes on. There were no words for him to describe the stirring feeling in his stomach.
The smell of burning food shook him out of his trance, that did not go unnoticed by her, which made him jump and immediately take the pan off the burner.
"I'll take the burnt one," he joked as he put a blacked grilled cheese on a plate and began to make another. "I know you hate anything burnt."
"Damn right," she responded as she jumped up to sit on the counter by him. "So, what do you have planned for today?"
"Honestly, I'm exhausted from the traveling yesterday. I was thinking about watching movies or something."
As he was talking, Victoria's phone buzzed with a text from Vincent.
I'm sorry, Vic. I have a date tonight. Will you be okay if I go?
Yes!! I want all the details when you get back. I'll be okay here. Have fun❤️
"Mind if I crash movie night? Little Vinny has a date tonight," she teased as she put her phone down.
"Of course you can," he smiled at her as he placed a plate of grilled cheese into her hands. His smile grew wider when she began to eat, because she was doing a little happy dance as she did so.
"I've been craving your grilled cheese for so long. You have no idea," she said between bites of food, not caring that she was talking with her mouth full. She unintentionally moaned from how good it was, making Anthony freeze and quickly put the dishes in the sink.
"So, what do you want to watch?"
She shrugged as she hopped of the counter and handed him her plate.
"I'm down for whatever. Maybe we can just browse Netflix?"
