CHAPTER FIVE
Potions took place in a dark, gloomy and cold room, which had been a dungeon before. The place was just like its professor : Severus Snape. A bitter-looking man, with greasy hair and a huge nose and a liking in loathing every living being apart from its students ; mostly because he was Head of the Slytherin House. Eventually though, he grew a particular hatred towards Gryffindors. He was the only teacher who was.not fond of you, yet he didn't hated you the way he hated other students.
You genuinely succeeded in Potions because you truly liked the subject despite its teacher. You had immediately figured out about Snape in first year, hence you never tried to be liked by him, you just worked your best and had top grades. Never bragged, never put on with an attitude, never did your know-it-all. At last you tried. Snape seemed unbothered by you, he didn't like you but he didn't harassed you like he did with Harry, Ron, Hermione or the twins, who for the latter, did always mess up in his class. He was a strange mean man, you thought.
Gryffindors and Ravenclaw were gathered in the dungeon, crowded in front of a cauldron filled with a potion that emanated a weird steam which floated in spirals. You were deeply curious to learn about it, though you might had already guessed what it was. Snape approached the object of all the curious looks from the students.
'In today's class I will teach you the most powerful love potion in the world, known as Amortentia.' Said Snape flatly with a cold voice. He didn't looked fond of today's potion, though you never really saw him fond of anything except when he did take points from the twins. 'Not just a silly little love potion, this beverage is powerful enough to make anybody fall instantly in an obsessive love with a person. You could turn anybody your slave with that.' He hissed with disgust. 'Now, though I doubt it, does anybody knows what are its particularities ?'
Snape's eyes flung over you instantly and with no surprise, you raised your hand slowly. He crossed his arms, raising his head in your direction, awaiting for your answer and wishing secretly that you would fail. But you couldn't, of course.
'Amortentia is recognizable for its mother-of-pearl sheen, its steam rising in characteristics spirals but also its strong infatuation, which appears different to everybody depending on what attracts them.' You answered trying no to look smug.
'COUGH-Know-it-all-COUGH!' Coughed Fred in the back.
'Right. And that just cost you twenty points Mr.Weasley.' hissed Snape sharply, turning to Fred.
You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms irritated. Couldn't he just shut up for one moment ? What was he trying to do, making you loose the House Cup ?
'As Miss Y/l/n correctly explained it, the scents are different to every person design on what attracts them. Demonstration : Mr. Davies, Miss Y/l/n and Mr.Weasley who likes so much to speak in my class.'
You shot a look at Fred while you stepped closer to the potion, he approached nonchalantly and reluctantly towards the cauldron, the crowd had spilt in two before him. You felt movement to your left and looked at Roger Davies, a Ravenclaw boy, rather handsome with whom you had talked once or twice in Herbology last year. He smiled at you, a grin full of charm, you smiled back.
'I'm afraid I will not be able to perform demonstration professor, Y/n stinks too muc-OUCH !'
You had fitted your elbow in between his ribs, causing Fred to split in two in agony. Snape sharply ordered him to smell and not to play the troublemaker anymore. In a groan and a wince he did. Just as you and Davies did. You bend slightly over the strange mixture, it was bubbling and sparkling. It looks amazing, and you couldn't take your eyes off of it. The two boys did the same, Fred shoulders brushed yours slightly but you were too focus on the potion to notice it and be utterly disgusted.
