"Is he asleep?" Rossi asked the entire group, who had all turned to look at Spencer when he failed to answer a question during their usual case reading on the jet to the scene.
JJ, who had only been back from maternity leave for a few cases, chuckled, "Looks it."
"Reid," Rossi called just as Spencer began to mutter something to himself, his brow furrowed in discomfort. "Reid!"
Spencer startled awake and blinked repeatedly, eyes adjusting to the bright lights of the plane as he sat up and apologised, "Sorry, I was dreaming."
Prentiss laughed softly as she responded, "No kidding."
He looked around with a furrowed brow, disorientation evidently making it hard for him to form a sentence. "We found a 6 year old boy who had been abused and stabbed. Baby Henry was at the crime scene.. I was trying to get him out of there.. Sorry..."
"You know, Reid, simple dream analysis. If there's a baby in your dreams, that baby's actually you," Morgan theorised, taking the words directly out of Clara's mouth. She found dream analysis fascinating and always had. Her childhood journals were full of past dreams and their meanings, those meanings were often taken from dusty old library books at her middle school.
"I don't believe in dream analysis," Spencer countered, all signs of sleepiness slowly dissolving as he fully woke up and focused on his surroundings again. Clara raised her brow at his statement, rather looking forward to the discussion they would undoubtedly have about the subject one evening.
"I don't know, it makes sense. The case we're working on and the case in your dream both involve children. Maybe your subconscious is telling you to sit this one out," Hotch explained with concert form his well being fully backing his words. Someone who wasn't a profiler would easily be able to spot how odd he was acting, how panicked he seemed to be.
"I don't."
"Well, maybe you're just stressed out about going home to Las Vegas. Did you tell your Mom you're coming?" Prentiss added, hoping to give something a little more light as a plausible reason as to why his mind had created the nightmare. She hoped it would soothe some of his obvious concern but it had no effect, he seemed to ignore it completely.
"Why aren't we reviewing the case file?"
"I don't know. Maybe because someone fell asleep on the jet," Prentiss replied with a slight frown which soon turned into soft laughter. The laughter spread amongst all members of the BAU for a second before Hotch directed them back towards the case.

As they exited the plane with dozens of unanswered theories spinning around their minds, Clara could not help but gently take Spencer's hand in her own. They were at the back of the group, walking quite a few paces behind everyone as she had needed time to pack her blanket away again and he had waited with her, which gave them the privacy needed. Even though they both anxiously watched to see if any of their coworkers turned around through their whispered discussion, the brief moment of contact was welcomed by him especially. "You still look a bit shaken up," she began softly, brow furrowing at the look in his eyes.
He sighed softly, "I'm just tired."
"Spence..."
He hesitated for a second, wondering if there was nay way that he could hide certain things from her just in case she thought, randomly, that he was too much to deal with and wouldn't want to be whatever they were to each other anymore. But from the look in her eyes and the genuine concern and gentleness within them, he knew nothing of the sort would ever happen. After all, she knew all the darker things about him before they kissed for the first time. She knew it all, yet still liked him in that way. He never thought that would happen. So he sighed softly and divulged, "I don't know what it is."
