Chapter Ten
I've been in my room sobbing hysterically for the past few hours.
Since no one is going to believe me when I tell them that Sage is going to kill me, I know my days are numbered and I know that I won't be able to survive.
When I was little, I used to dream that I'd find true love and marry a prince. A few years ago, I'd dream about a time when Mother wasn't sick, dream of a day when she got better and stayed alive. Now, I dream that people stop thinking that I'm a crazy girl. If Father, Asher, Penelope, and Aurora had just believed me, it'd be a dream come true. Since it's not, I hope that one day they will, in fact, thinking of that moment is the only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.
I used to write my dreams on a piece of paper and stick them in my dresser's top drawer. I decide to look for them but something else distracts me.
Sitting on my dresser is an invitation from Princess Amelia. She's planning a sleepover party for all of the princesses in the Fairy Tale World and I don't know if I want to go.
I'm in a horrible headspace right now, I don't want to be seen by anyone. Plus, sleepovers are for little girls, I don't know if acting like a child is something I want to do tonight.
Oh, and Princess Amelia is Asher's younger sister, why would I want to go to the Charming Kingdom and risk running into him?
But at the same time, being anywhere besides my own kingdom with Sage is probably best.
I decide to pack a bag with my nightgown and head out to the stables to get a carriage.
Whether I like it or not, I'm heading to the Charming Kingdom because I need to be away from Sage. She's proven to me that I can't even trust the food that I eat here.

Once the three-hour ride to the great kingdom lined with cobblestone streets is over, I find myself walking into the Charming's palace, faking smiles for everyone.
Four girls are here, all excited for the sleepover, and it puts my mind at ease.
Princess Brielle is the next in line for Wonderland's throne and she looks as gorgeous as always with her dark hair done up in intricate braids. Brielle usually wears red and the short scarlet gown she's got on matches her tanned skin so well.
The Beauty Kingdom's princesses Lilah and Ivy are here and they're living up to their family name. Both of them are sights for sore eyes with their olive skin, chocolate eyes, and flowing brown hair. Lilah's wearing a rosy pink dress and Ivy matches her with the same gown, it's just in a shade of baby blue. If Sage asked her mirror about the prettiest girl in the Fairy Tale World and not the White Kingdom, I know the mirror would tell her that it was one of these radiant princesses.
Excited about her royal sleepover, Princess Amelia is glowing wearing a sparkly silver dress that perfectly matches her blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and fair skin.
In the Fairy Tale World, there are only five of us who get the title of princess. We all come from different kingdoms and have all been raised differently, but most of us are going to be queens someday and we all want what's best for our kingdoms and the world. Brielle, Amelia, Lilah, and Ivy are all so sweet and kind, seeing them all here actually makes me excited to be at this sleepover.
"The head chef is making us spicy chicken for dinner and then cupcakes for dessert!" Amelia explains as the rest of us unpack our things in her bedroom.
"I can't wait!" Princess Ivy exclaims.
"We can also play truth or dare if we want, and maybe go mattress surfing down the grand staircase!" Amelia smiles.
"Tonight's gonna be amazing!" I pitch in with a big smile. My mind is still all over the place, but maybe this sleepover will distract me from everything else going on back home.

Once we're all unpacked, Princess Brielle suggests that we play truth or dare now.
"Okay, I'll go first," Lilah starts. "Ivy, truth or dare?"
"Why'd you pick me first?" Ivy whines at her older sister.
"Just pick!" Lilah argues.
"Fine," she sighs. "Truth."
Lilah looks around the room and then starts to laugh. "Ivy, if you had to marry any of the princes, who would you marry?"
"Well, the Charming boys are cute," Ivy starts. "But Callan is too. So if I had to marry a prince, I'd definitely marry Callan!"
"Well, he's single and a hot mess. Go for it!" Brielle laughs, thinking of her little brother.
"Okay, Snow, truth or dare?" Ivy asks.
Do I want them to find out all of my deep dark secrets or should I just do a stupid dare and make a fool of myself?
"Um, dare," I smile.
"I dare you to go find one of the Charming brothers and kiss him!" Ivy says. "Oh, except Archie of course, he and Lilah are a thing."
There's no way I'm going to kiss one of the Charming princes, especially Asher. Doing that would bring up memories of a few nights ago at Father's birthday party. Our breakup is so fresh, that it's still eating at me.
"Um, I change my mind. I pick truth," I gulp.
But just thinking about the wonderful, blonde, beautiful, Prince Asher Charming, makes me sad. I'll never be able to kiss his lips again. I'll never get to see his eyes light up when he smiles. I'll never get to be with him, all because of the miscommunication and misunderstandings that I let get in the way.
"Snow, you can't change your mind! You have to do the dare!" Ivy whines.
I look to Amelia and beg her for help with my eyes. She knew that Asher and I dated, and I'm sure he told her about the breakup. She has to know that I don't want to kiss anyone right now.
"Um, I think we should pass on that dare, I'm sure my brothers are all busy anyway," the Charming Princess giggles.
"Okay fine," Ivy rolls her eyes. "So truth, Snow, why don't you want to kiss any of the Charmings? Is there any bad blood between you and any of them?" she smirks.
I can feel my white face go red and I wish that I could control my emotions. I miss Asher, I wish we hadn't broken up, but it had to be done. I can't love someone like that if they don't believe me when I say I'm in danger.
"No, not really. I just have feelings for someone and I don't want to kiss anyone else right now," I say.
I don't know if that's a complete lie, but it's all I could think of at the moment.
Ivy's brown eyes light up. "So, truth again, who's this mystery boy?"
"Ivy, let's not ambush, Snow," her older sister says.
"Fine. Brielle, do you wanna go next?" Ivy sighs.
"Sure, and I pick dare!" Wonderland's princess smiles.
♡♡♡♡
After a few more turns of truth or dare, the five of us head downstairs and sit down for dinner.
As expected, the entire Charming family is sitting down at the grand dining table. I try my best to avoid Asher's gaze, but just being in his presence starts to make all of the feelings rush in.
