I hold her against me as she cries. Her every sniff cuts my heart into little pieces. Her every echo of pain bleaches my skin with anger. Her sobs were filled with years of pain and abandonment. She was broken.

So much so that she was having a hard time believing my words. Putting her entire trust in me. Afraid I'll become the reality of her traumatic visions of me. Her hold on me was tight and delicate, all I could think about was protecting her soul from the world.

I won't let anyone hurt her ever again. I will shield her from pain. I will color her scars with golden and let her shine through the darkness. She may not have seen a world full of beauty and good people, the humanity that is still alive, the innocence she had inside her before she got thrown into the dungeons of evil but I will make sure that she does.

Her revenge is my revenge now. I will ruin each and every one of them who began this war. I will numb them to the aches of my anger and only their screams would relish this burning agony inside me. Inside her. I will make sure she finishes what she started.

"Sweetheart," I speak stroking her head against me.

"I am sorry. I-I don't know why I am crying," she pulls back sobbing. Her face is red and lightly swollen. "I just never had-"

"I know," I tell her. I pause letting her know what I mean. "I know babe and you don't have to be sorry for anything."

She hiccups, her tear-strained eyes looking at me. "I-I ruined your shirt," she says pointing to the black shirt I wore now stained with her tears.

"Does it look like I give a fuck about my shirt, Mi Zorro?"

Her answer was a soft shrug of her shoulder. I lightly smile at her, slowly wiping her cheeks as I kiss her forehead before pulling her again for a hug. "I am not used to having people care for me," she says, "When I overheard that Klaus was hiding something from me, I thought that maybe he also...went against me," her voice lowers at the last part. If I wasn't hugging her I probably would've missed her saying that.

"You know him better than I do sweetheart. Klaus wouldn't do something like that. In fact, he cares so much about you that he gave me fourteen threats for just making him sign the NDA. He was so mad when I told him he couldn't share some things with you that he walked away at the first chance he got. I had to drag him and convince him that our interests are mutual."

A wetty laugh escapes from her, "And he agreed after that?"

"Well, let's just say he took my hard drive as collateral. All my trade secrets, my weaponry against the different political associations, the terms of the contract, and people whom I have investigated to be working as a double. It's all in there."

"Oh, my god," she says pulling away, "Why would you give something so important to him?"

"Because like me he wanted what was best for you and when it comes to that I am willing to give everything. Doesn't matter if it's a hard drive that can snitch me out to the world."

"You both are idiots," she smacks my arms and takes a seat on the bed. I pass her a tissue from the dressing table when my phone rings. "You should probably get that. It's the fourth time it rang,"

"What are you talking about? I didn't hear it ring," I say pulling my phone out from the pocket. The screen lights up with a coded number that I've given to Klaus. I look at Mi Zorro for a second before taking the call. "Speak,"

"Ash," Klaus says in a panic.

My muscles tensed up. "What happened?"

"The auction," his voice breaks, "It got postponed,"
