Chapter 29

=====

Jiraiya sat criss-crossed before Naruto and Gamariki. A glare had long crossed his features as he stared ahead at the large toad and idiotic boy, "Coming from Naruto, I expected nothing less." His gaze shifted to Gamariki, "But coming from you, Gamariki? I must say I'm very disappointed."

Gamariki's eyes watered over as his arms began to swing around in desperation, "Forgive me! I really do understand, Jiraiya! It's just–this boy!!"

Naruto looked between the toad and Jiraya with crossed arms and a scowl on his features. He couldn't get over how weird of a relationship these two had. He almost thought it was all Gamariki making it weird, but the longer he thought of Jiraiya's past thoughts and actions, he knew better than to blame only one side of the bridge.

"This jutsu will never work unless the two of you get your hearts and bodies working in perfect sync," Jirairya crossed his arms.

Gamariki leaned forward, "That is exactly why this will not work!" He motioned to Naruto, "IN order to achieve that we have to be... compatible."

"Yeah!!" Naruto joined in; the first time he and Gamariki were on the same page. "And we're not compatible! And things will go a lot faster if you let me find somebody who is!"

"Oh yeah?" Jiraiya repeated. His eyes trailed down to the thick bandages covering Naruto's arm, "How can you summon anything with that arm of yours?"

"You're forgetting how fast I can heal, Pervy Sage," Naruto said with a cocky grin. He pulled his arm up and in one swift motion, he slammed in on the ground and successfully shattered the clean and neat work (Y/N) made up. He wasted no time biting the smallest piece of skin from his thumb before making his hand signals and pressing his palm to the ground, "Summoning Jutsu!"

Two toads as large as Gamariki appeared from the thick smoke that gathered with the jutus as Naruto practically tumbled onto his ass. He stared ahead with eyes as wide as the sun at Gamakichi and Gamatatsu who had grown way more than the last  time he saw them.

Jiraiya stood up at the sight of the two toads, "You two sure have grown."

Gamatatsu looked around the area before a frown crossed his lips, "Hey... where's (Y/N)? I haven't seen her in so long."

"She's–" Jiraiya hesitated. Only then did he realize he didn't actually know where she was. He scolded himself silently. "She's doing another training exercise." He glanced over his shoulder.

"Anyway, Naruto," Gamakichi continued, getting back on topic. "What did you summon us for?"

A look of excitement pulled Naruto's expression up, "Right! Here's the plan: how do you feel about perfecting our synchronicity and compatibility?"

"Huh?"

"What's that? Does it taste good?"

Jiraiya couldn't help but snicker at Naruto's dropped shoulders.

"Okay..." (Y/N) muttered to herself. She crouched down next to her chosen, extremely secluded, tree, having propped one of her books against the trunk. She squinted to see the words better before giving herself a nod of reassurance and standing up.

She backed away from the tree, rubbing her hands against themselves in an attempt to... something–she wasn't really sure why she did it. She read over the words from the book in her mind, moving her chakra the way the book described it. Extremely inelegantly, at first.
