✤ The Fourth Tail

~Chapter 20~

Naruto's eyes went white. His skin began to chip off, piece by piece, turning into this red color with black thrown in.

"Pull yourself together, Sakura!" Yamato yelled as he viciously shook Sakura. Sakura slowly opened her eyes, shooting upright. "Ouch!!" She yelled, grasping the back of her head.

Yamato's eyes were wide with fear. He wasn't exactly scared of Orochimaru, but he was more scared of what would happen to him if he'd let Kakashi's students get killed or severely injured. He may as well be dead.

What looked like a thick dark line, stretched up from the ground into the clouds where Orochimaru and Naruto were. Yamato glared at the line and created a wood clone so that he could figure out what was going on.

"I'm going too."(Y/N) said before Yamato grabbed onto her arm. "No, nothing good is going on over there! You'll just be in the way and end up getting yourself hurt!"

(Y/N) protested against her captain. "I know that, I'll stay out of the way I promise, but I have to check on Naruto! I'll come back I promise!!" She yelled,leaving Yamato no room to protest before she ran off, sending her chakra to her feet and legs to give her more strength to jump across the broken bridge.

Not now, Naruto! You swore you would keep your anger under control so this wouldn't happen!
(Y/N) yelled internally.

~Another Flashback~

"How do you always get done packing before me?" Naruto asked as he scrambled back into his room to finish packing for the mission. He's just opened the door for (Y/N) was respectful enough to knock even though she normally didn't.

"Cause I'm that great." (Y/N) said with a cocky grin.

Naruto rolled his eyes inside of his room. "Yeah, yeah, you say that everytime."

(Y/N snickered as she leaned against the doorframe of Naruto's room. The two were in a comfortable silence for a bit until (Y/N) decided to pop the question. "WIll you be okay?"

"Huh? What do you mean?" Naruto asked, putting some Kunai and Shuriken in his pocket.

(Y/N) looked outside of his window from the door, avoiding any eye contact Naruto would try and give. "I know you're strong. I'm not exactly worried about you being hurt in that way on this mission, but what if you lose control...?"

Naruto continued packing, unfazed by the conversation. (Y/N) knew how to approach Naruto about the Nine Tails without making sound as if she were disgusted in any way. "It's not that I don't trust you because I do," (Y/N) continued. "It's just, I hate seeing you in that state where you have no control. It hurts... ya know?"

Naruto set his bag on his bed and walked to (Y/N). "Naruto, calm down--." Naruto ignored (Y/N) and got closer, suddenly hugging her. (Y/N) fell silent, just staying calm in the moment.

The little moments between the two were surprisingly rare. Usually they would be out in the village, jumping around the place together, competing with each other, sleeping, or even trying all different kinds of ramen to see if anything has changed. The only time the sweet moments came around was when Naruto decided for them to.

(Y/N) was secretly shy when it came to sweet things like this. Most of the time. This hug was comforting. Not forcing, not violent. Just warm and soft.

"It'll be fine, (Y/N). I promise."

~End of Flashback~

"Tch." (y/N) growled as she leaped over a knocked over tree.
