✤ The Eight Gates

~Chapter 13~

"Heck yeah! That's what I'm talking about Shino!" (Y/N) cheered as Shino won his match. His bugs crawled back into his skin. "I already told you I would win." He responded while he made his way back to his team.

"We're moving right on to the next match." Gekko said.  Puff of smoke appeared behind team 7. "Yo!" Kakashi said with a hand up. (Y/N) waved back at him casually while Sakura popped off. "What do you mean 'yo!'?! Where's Sasuke!?"

"He's fine. Sound asleep in the infirmary as we speak." Kakashi said, partly lying. The team turned back to the battle that was about to start.

(I suck at writing battles, so imma skip all the unimportant ones)

(Y/N) shivered. "That pulled gives me the creeps."

"Isn't that unfair?!" Naruto asked no one in particular. "Two against one?"

"No," (Y/N) responded. "He's a puppet master. The puppet is basically a part of him just like Shino's bugs and Akamaru to Kiba. All is fair in war." Kakashi nodded. "Exactly."

"Well, you best get going, Sakura." Kakashi said. Sakura tilted her head slightly. "What?" Kakashi motioned toward the board picking names. Sakura Haruno vs Ino Yamanaka. Ino and Sakura glances at each other before scowling and making their way down the stairs.

(Y/N) yawned while she leaned against the railing next to Naruto and Lee. "Might as well get comfy."

"Why is that?" Lee asked. (Y/N) watched as Sakura and Ino took their places. "This is going to take a while, and I have a good feeling that it's going to be super boring."

Naruto furrowed his brows. "(Y/N)! Sakura is our teammate, you shouldn't talk about her like that!"

"Oh com on, Naruto." (Y/N) looked over at him tiredly. "Ask yourself, what has Sakura been doing? Sure, she cut her hair. But has she done anything that benefits us as a team?"

Guy leaned over to Kakashi. "Did you teach her to be brutally honest?" Kakashi shook his head, sweat dropping. "No..."

"Finally.." (Y/N) mirroring herself while stretching. Sakura and Ino were carried up the steps, behind team 7. Kakashi sweatdropped once again. "You could be nicer about it, (Y/N)."

"Don't lie to yourself." (Y/N) said to her dad. "You were bored too." Kakashi looked away, disappointed in himself for being bored during his own student's battle. "Next match... please step forward." Gekko said.

(Y/N) looked back to expect some sort of encouragement in her battle, but was met with none since everybody was focusing on Sakura and Ino who were out cold. "Thanks, guys." Then she jumped off the railing.

Kakashi looked over his shoulder when (Y/N) jumped off the rail. He internally cursed himself for not paying attention. "Uhm, we should focus on (Y/N) and TenTen's match."

Naruto and Lee looked over at Kakashi before realizing their friend was gone. Lee snapped his fingers before running to the railing as fast as he could. Lee wanted so badly to cheer, but he had no idea who to cheer for. Naruto didn't care. "Beat her butt, (Y/N)! Yeah!" (Y/N) looked behind her to see Naruto pumping his fists in the air bringing a smile to her face before refocusing.

"TenTen and (Y/N)'s match will now begin!" Gekko said before backing away. (Y/N) and TenTen both jumped back away from each other. A grin crossed TenTen's face. "Sorry, (Y/N). But I'm taking this round."

"Probably." (Y/N) said back. Kakashi hit his palm on his forehead. He at least expected her to say something cool back. (Y/N) was never the cocky, bragging type. After seeing Naruto be like that and get embarrassed multiple times, (Y/N) refused to make cocky claims. At least until she got stronger. TenTen sweat dropped. "I wasn't expecting that... no matter."
