Their alarm clock went off at 6am. Maya and Carina planned to spend their morning preparing for Sofia's 12th birthday. They would have breakfast together, just the three of them. Then, they would give Sofia her presents. After that, the three of them are going out for a couple hours, Sofia gets to choose where. In the meantime, friends of Maya and Carina would set up a surprise party.

First things first, the couple had to get themselves ready for the day. Carina has been needing a bit more time in the morning, because being pregnant has made getting herself ready a bit harder. Luckily, Maya was willing to help her with anything.

''Babe, I'm going for a run, ok?'' Maya asked her wife. She was fully dressed in her gym clothes, with a protein shake in her hand.

''Maya, vieni qui, per favore.'' Carina urged.

''Why, what's wrong?'' Maya asked her wife as she entered the bathroom.

''I'm a bit nauseous and I don't want to bend and put my socks on. Can you do it for me please?'' Carina was sitting on the toilet with tears in her eyes.

''Of course, my love.'' Maya grabbed a pair of socks from the dresser. ''Are you ok?'' she asked.

Carina nodded. ''Sì, it's the hormones.''

''Do you want me to stay at home?'' Maya asked.

Carina shook her head and grabbed Maya's hand. ''No, bambina. I'll be fine, enjoy your run, amore.''

''Are you sure?''

''Sì, sicurissimo. Ora vai.'' Carina playfully smacked her wife's ass, before Maya left the house for her run.

Carina knew that running was a way for Maya to calm down a little. Lately, Maya had very busy days at work, and Carina could sense that Maya wasn't as relaxed as normal. That's also why she didn't deny her wife the morning run. Because right now, the only thing Carina wanted was to be held by her wife.

She forced herself to go to the kitchen and eat something. Lately, she was really craving freshly baked bread with butter and jam. She used to have it all the time when she lived in Italy. This morning, she also needed a good cappuccino. As an ob, she knew she had to watch out with caffeine while pregnant, but one cup a day would definitely not hurt the twins.

Something Carina and Sofia shared was that they both really missed good European bread. Luckily for Sofia, her mama is Italian and happens to be quite the cook.

While the bread was baking in the oven, Carina was looking further into the adoption. The family doesn't need a lawyer or something, because there is no family willing to adopt Sofia. If everything goes well, they should have a court date in about a month.

Carina had just put the bread away to rest when she heard the front door open. A sweaty and out of breath Maya entered the living room.

''Ciao, bambina.'' Carina said from the kitchen.

''Hmmm, it smells great in here. Hi, babe.'' Maya leaned in to kiss her wife, but Carina almost gagged.

''Per favore bambina, go take a shower.'' Carina said, taking a few steps away from Maya.

''That bad huh?'' Maya smiled. ''Alright.'' And she disappeared upstairs.

''Oh, do I smell fresh baked bread?'' Sofia asked as she entered the kitchen.

Hearing the sound of her daughter's voice, Carina looked up.''

''Bambina, vieni qui!'' She urged.
