Maya tried to be as fast as she could, but she had to be aware that she had a laboring wife as well as a twelve-year-old who needed to come with her.

''Can you wait here? I need to ask Travis if he can take over.'' Maya said as she placed all of their belongings on the desk outside in the hall.

Carina nodded and motioned for Maya to go.

''Montgomery, I need you.'' Maya said as she saw her lieutenant.

''Trav, Carina is in labor. Can you take over as captain for the rest of the shift?'' She asked.

''Oh my god, Maya. Of course, go be with your wife!'' Travis answered excited.

Maya smiled. ''Thanks, Travis.''

She immediately turned around to go back to the laboring Italian again.

''Good luck, Mai!'' She heard Travis yell as she left.

''Right, we've got everything. I can call Andy in the car.'' Maya mumbled to herself.

Sofia furrowed her brow. ''Why are you going to call Andy?'' She asked.

''She's battalion chief, I need to let her know that I'm leaving.'' Maya explained as they walked to their car.

She gently helped Carina sit down, making sure her wife was as comfortable as she could. Even though Maya would have preferred to drive to the hospital as fast as she could, it was 5pm is Seattle, and the roads were full of traffic.

""Jesus why won't these people hurry up!'' Maya let out frustrated.

''I don't think Jesus is going to answer.'' Sofia said in an attempt to lighten the mood.

Maya gave her a disapproving look through the rear-view mirror.

''Tough crowd.'' Sofia mumbled quietly.

Just then, Carina had another contraction. Maya pressed a button on her watch when the Italian first squeaked, tried to coach her through it as much as she could, and pressed the button twice again when the contraction subsided. She was precisely going to measure how much time the contractions took, and how much time was in between them.

''I need to call Andy.'' Maya stated when they were waiting for a red light. Fortunately, the car had a call-function.

After a couple of rings, Andy answered.

Bishop, are you calling your chief or your friend?

''Both, I guess. Carina is in labour; I just left the station. Travis is in charge.''

Oh my god Maya, congratulations! Tell Carina good luck from me.

''Grazie Andy.'' Carina chimed in.

You're going to do great.

''Thank you, Andy, for everything. I've got to go; we've arrived at Grey-Sloan.

Of course, bye!

The three Deluca-Bishops bid their goodbyes before getting out of the car. They opted to use the staff's entrance, because word travels fast in the hospital, and Carina didn't want to be swarmed by colleagues all the time.

''I want to go to my office first, let them prepare my room while we wait. Otherwise, everyone will find out.'' Carina said.

Maya nodded. It didn't matter what Carina wanted right now; Maya would make sure she got it.
