I can't believe this is happening. I hear them talking about me, but I just can't respond. How did that just happen. My little sister, my mother and my brother. I really hope Tomas is still alive. Tears are streaming down my face again. I realize I will never sing Nora to sleep again. And my mother. We didn't have the best relationship, but she is still my mom.

I see a lady now talking to the woman who was beside me. I can hear them talking about my injuries.

''Hey, my name is Maya, I'm the captain of these firefighters. Can you tell me your name?'' her voice is soft. She looks calm.

''I'm Sofia.'' I manage to say my name.

''Hi Sofia, can you tell me how old you are?'' The lady asks me another question. My voice feels weird. It is like I can't talk. She notices I'm struggling.

''It's okay Sofia, it's all going to be okay''. She sounds really soft again.

''I'm eleven years old.''

''Wow eleven huh, can you tell me where it hurts?''

I feel like I can talk a bit better, although I struggle with finding the right words in English. I'm Dutch, and normally my English is decent, because my mom is American, but right now I have trouble finding the words. My accent sounds thick as well.

''My head hurts, and my chest also hurts.''

''You're doing great Sofia; an aid car is on its way to take you to the hospital.''

I nod, and I stay silent.

''Do you know anything about my brother yet?'' I am so worried about him. I don't think I can get through this without him. I feel so alone already.

''I don't sweety, but I promise you I will tell you when I do.'' she tells me.

I'm happy with that. I don't like it when adults hold back on information, because they think I'm too young.

I hear the radio informing the lady that the aid car is here. I feel very anxious.

...

''Captain Bishop, the additional aid car is on scene.''

I look up and walk to the aid car. Station 77.

''Thank you for coming. We have an eleven-year-old girl who was in a car crash. So far, we know she has a head lack and probably a couple of broken ribs. Her blood pressure and heart rate are normal, but she is still a little bit in shock.'' I explain to the firefighters.

We walk over to Hughes and Sofia. Sofia looks so scared. Her dark, curly hair looks messy, and her blue eyes are full of fear. I feel terrible. This girl just lost her mother and her little sister half an hour ago.

The men start preparing her for transport. She looks very uncomfortable.

''Sweety it's going to be all right. Grey-Sloan has the best doctors.'' I try to soothe her, but it doesn't seem to work.

''Can you please come with me?'' She asks me. I don't have to think twice about this. I feel like I have a connection with this little girl.

''Montgomery do you copy'' I want Montgomery to take over, he has done an amazing job since he became lieutenant a year ago.

''Yes, captain.''

''I want you to take over at the station while I'm gone. I will ride with the aid car to Grey-Sloan and stay with the girl.''

''Copy, captain.''

I turn back to Sofia. She is already on the gurney.

''I'm going with you honey. You'll be alright.''

I sit next to her is the ambulance. She looks very upset.

''Hey, you know, my wife works in this hospital. She helps mama's have their babies.'' I tell her in an attempt to have a conversation, so she calms down a little bit.

''Is she nice?'' She asks me. Her voice sounds raspy and emotional. My heart breaks for her.

''She is absolutely the sweetest person I know. I want to be with her until I'm grey and old.''

''That sounds nice.'' She closes her eyes.

''Hey Sofia, stay awake for me please, I want you to get checked out first, okay?'' I can't have her falling asleep. She needs to be checked out first.

''Okay, I'll try.''

I think about calling up ahead to the hospital, so they are ready. I pick up my phone to call Carina.

''I'm going to call my wife, so she can make sure that the very best people are going to take care of you, okay?'' I wait for her answer.

''Thank you.''

I dial Carina's number.

''Maya are you ok? Why do I hear sirens in the background? Are you hurt?'' She sounds very worried.

I smile, because even though this situation is very sad, it makes me feel happy Carina's worried about me. ''My love, I'm fine. I have eleven-year-old girl who has a head lack and a couple of broken ribs. I wanted to make sure she gets the best care available.''

''I will make sure doctor Shepherd and doctor Robbins are there. How many minutes until you get here?''

Right now, I'm grateful my wife works at the hospital, because I'm deeply worried about this girl and I need her to be ok. ''Thank you, babe, we are three minutes out.''

''I will see you there tesoro.''

I hang up the phone and try to comfort Sofia.
