A new life for Sofia

Chapter forty-one

After pushing the placenta out Carina felt incredibly tired. Fortunately, she didn't need any stiches for tearing. She wanted a shower, but she was sure she wouldn't have the energy. Luckily, a blond firefighter was more than willing to give her wife a sponge bath.

''Should we call Amelia first? Let Sofia know that she's a big sister?'' Maya suggested.

Carina's eyes lit up at the mentioning of her daughter. ''Yes please.''

Maya facetimed Amelia. She was almost certain that Sofia would still be awake, even though it was almost eleven pm. She was always allowed to stay up late when she was with Amelia. And the wives didn't mind; it was a Saturday after all.

Amelia immediately picked up and saw two glowing mothers. The boys were comfortably lying on Carina's chest.

''Sofia!'' Amelia yelled.

They wives could hear someone running towards Amelia, and eventually Sofia popped up on the screen.

''Hi Soof, meet your brothers,'' Maya smiled as she turned the camera even more towards Carina and the twins.

''Oh my god they are so cute! What are their names?''

''This one here who's being very active is Andrea Carlo.'' Carina said as she softly tickled the boy under his chin.

''And the sleepy one over here is Lorenzo Tomas.'' Maya chimed in. Both wives could see the tears welling up in Sofia's eyes. Amelia had wrapped her arms around the twelve-year-old to provide some comfort.

''You named them after my dad and my brother?''

''We did, kiddo.'' Maya smiled.

''Those are some beautiful boys, congrats.'' Amelia said.

''What color are their eyes?'' Sofia asked, not having been able to see that.

Maya brought the phone closer to Andrea, who was still awake. ''Look at me little fellow.'' Maya smiled as she captured the ocean blue eyes of her son.

''Wow! Those are so pretty, so much like yours, mom.'' Sofia said.

Maya chuckled. ''Well, we used my eggs.''

''And their hair is black?'' Sofia tried to confirm, not being able to see if it's brown or black.

Carina nodded. ''It appears to be.''

''I can't wait to see all of you tomorrow.'' Sofia stated rather excited.

''We can't wait to see you either, farfalla.'' Carina said

''Sogni d'oro I miei fratteli.'' Sofia said as she blew them a kiss.

''Say bye to your big sister.'' Maya whispered mainly to Andrea since Lorenzo was still asleep.

Carina took Andrea's little hand and pretended to wave. ''Ciao, buona notte.'' She said in a cute voice.

''Bye moms, love you.'' She waved.

After they all said their goodbyes, it was time for Maya to give her wife a sponge bath. She placed both boys in their separate cots and got to work. Very gently, she started cleaning the Italian.

While doing so, Carina fell asleep. Maya smiled. She was so incredibly proud of her wife. She always thought that it was a bit cliché to say that you fall in love with your partner even more when they give birth, but for Maya, it was true.
