Time: a day after 'Family'

I was laying in Reshes' bed, with her sleeping in my arms.

Gently I gave her a kiss on the forehead.

I watched as a small smile grew on her face, before I got comfortable and was about to fall asleep, but the bedroom door opened.

'Thomas?', I heard Reshes' dad say. 'Are you still awake?'

'I am, why?', I said softly, not wanting to wake up Reshes.

'Can you come downstairs, I need to have a talk with you', and with that the door closed.

I sighed, before gently trying to break free from my girlfriend, without waking her up.

'Hmm..', she grumpily mumbled.

'I'll be right back, baby', I said, kissing her cheek.

When I walked downstairs, I saw the guys that were bothering Reshes yesterday, with the one I knocked out having bandages around his nose.

'What are you bitches doing here', I said, walking to them.

But they took some steps back, looking at me in fear.

'Well?', I asked threatening.

'I hired them'

I looked behind me, to see Reshes' dad.

'For what?'

'To see how you would protect Reshes'

'You were testing me.'

He nodded.

'Well-'

'So I think I can entrust her to you'

That left me shocked.

I wanted to swear at him until my voice gave up, but he trusted me, finally, so I kept my mouth shut.

'Really.?'

'Mhm'

'So, I also have your blessing to marry her?', I nervously asked, hoping I wasn't crossing the line of what I'm allowed and what I am not.

'Fine, now go before I change my mind'

I quickly went back to Reshes' room, to see her sitting there, looking around for me.

'Babe!', she happily said.

'Hey baby', I said, laying back down next to her.

She quickly cuddled back into my arms, refusing to be anywhere else.

I gently held her close, smiling, knowing I can finally start my plan to propose to her.
