Chapter. 10

Link's Pov:

My heart stings as Zelda says the words 'just a friend.' I look at her, a sinking feeling in my stomach. She looks up at me.... I can see something in her eyes, but I'm not sure what it is... I look back to the girl at the counter. 'Was that sadness I saw in her eyes? Or am I just hoping it was?'

After she buys the shirt she puts it on and we walk outside. My mind keeps going to when we were at the beach... when Zelda and I were in the water... 'She called me cute... I... I touched her.. I-I-I want to tell her how I feel.... but how?? Maybe I'll ask Sidon and Mipha.' I think as we walk around the pier.. I take a few steps closer to Zelda, my hand brushing against hers. Her eyes flicker up to me and her cheeks turn red. She smiles shyly, looking away. The sun starts to set as we continue to walk.. Zelda looks amazing in the setting light..

"Should we eat here?" Mipha asks, pointing to a Food place I have never seen before. "Sure." Zelda smiles. 'That smile... It makes my heart race' I think as Sidon nods and I just follow behind.. Watching Zelda as we enter the place. We get a table for 4, Zelda, Mipha, and Sidon laughing at something Sidon said... I look out the window, paying attention to the people around us as we sit at our table. "Don't you think?" Zelda smiles, giggling softly. My ears shift at the sound of her voice.. "Mhm." Mipha says in a sweet tone. My eyes shift to Zelda as she smiles even bigger at Mipha's response. "What are we talking about?" I ask. "August." Zelda smiles, looking into my eyes. "She is a very cute puppy." I say seeing Zelda's smile brighten and grow instantly.

After we eat we walk around the pier for a little while longer. "I love this place.." Zelda sighs leaning over a balcony of the pier, looking out at the dark ocean. "I should take you here again sometime." I say placing my elbows on the railing. "Where did Mipha and Sidon go?" She asks after a moment. "Sidon said he needed help buying something and made Mipha come with him." I say with a small chuckle. "Sidon is such a good wingman." She says laughing, her cheeks going red as she says this. "Wing man?" I ask with a small smirk. "Well... No.. I didn't mean to say that... I-I just get so tongue tied around you... If I'm being honest.." She says, looking away. I don't know what to say... "Do you think we should look for them?" She asks after a few quiet moments. "We should just stay here so they can find us again." I say, knowing Sidon will just try to run away again. She nods, one of her hands reaching for her chest in the spot where a necklace would be. Her eyes go wide with panic. "What's wrong?" I ask. "My.. My mothers necklace! It's gone!! I had it an hour ago!" She says quickly, her eyes filling with tears. "Hey it's ok. We'll find it.." I say placing my hands on her shoulders as she looks around frantically. "What does it look like?"

"It's that red and gold heart necklace." She says starting to cry. "It's ok. Here we'll retrace our steps."

After 10 minutes of looking, Mipha and Sidon come back we explain what happened and they help us look.

After around 20 more minutes Zelda gives up and drops to the ground in tears. "Zelda it's ok.. I can get you a new one." Mipha says, trying to cheer her up. "No! You can't! This wasn't something that could be replaced.. That necklace meant everything to me!!!" She sobs falling into my arms. "It's all I had left."

"I know.. I know it hurts..." I say trying to comfort her. After I get Zelda to calm down we all get Ice-cream in an attempt to cheer Zelda up. Sidon pulls me away for a second. "What?" I ask at the worried look on his face. "I... I.. I think Mipha has the necklace..." He says looking down. "What?! What makes you say that?!" I laugh in disbelief. "She was talking about it when we left you and Zelda alone..."

"Mipha would never take something from someone. You know that.. I think she was just admiring it. But ask her if you really think something happened."

"Ok... I'll get back to you on that..." He sighs looking down in shame. "Hey. You were just trying to do the right thing.. No need to feel bad."
