I remember last year, someone made an advance to Luma. We were out eating in a fancy restaurant after completing the mission given to us. Novy had to force Luma out of his cave and have him shaved, wear nice clothes, and spray perfume!

Thinking about it, maybe Novy was setting me up with his brother at that time too.

Anyway, Luma was indeed good-looking for a beta. Broad shoulders, muscles flexing, and even the button on his tuxedo were fighting for their lives. He was perfect in every sense except his mind. Luma, due to his past and his job, was a little crazy in the head.

When we came out of the restaurant, an alpha ran after us, carrying a rose that came from the vase on one of the tables inside. He said, "Hey! May I have your name?" He was running, and to stop Luma, he grabbed the beta's hand. In a matter of seconds, that alpha was lying on the ground.

He shouted, "I'm not a bad person. I just want to know you. I fell for your beauty!" The alpha shouted as if his life depended on it, but Luma only frowned and kicked the alpha, saying, "Bastard!"

If humans were made of ninety percent love hormones and ten percent hate hormones, Luma had it reversed. He hated the world ninety percent of the time and loved it for ten percent because of Novy.

Luma's reason for existence is that he still had a brother to take care of.

So, if Luma said he would cut it off, then he would cut it off! "Hydro!" I have to save my brother from his lovesick heart! This is why I don't want him to come! A pampered wolf courting a wild wolf is courting death! "We should go."

"I called Vand to pick you up."

"How about you?" I asked, confused. Sweat started to form on my forehead.

"I will look after the house. We can't leave the guest unattended."

"...but I'm... the owner."

"I can do it in your stead; go back to your alpha." What a considerate brother, my ass!

Shit! This guy was that attracted to Luma to be this petty?! He was not willing to let go of the bone he had found! Oh. My poor brother.

I reminded him, "Brother, you like alpha."

"I like beta now," he answered confidently.

Whatever! His eyes do not even leave Luma while talking to me! You're thirty; you can take care of yourself! I have my relationship in mind. It was not even a proper relationship until now!

And so I left them, but I'm still worried about my brother. Luma was a wild wolf; I hope he won't kill my brother.

I am this family's hope to continue the line; my two brothers should treat me twice as well as before! They should take care of their nephews and nieces in the future!

Back at the car, Vand was already waiting for me with a smile on his face. Oh, I so love him, but I was sad thinking that I was not his mate. Will he leave me if he finds his mate? I feel like crying just thinking about it.

"Darling," he scooped me up and kissed me on the crook of my neck. "How was your friend?"

"He's okay. Yvon marked him."

"Oh. Was he forced?" Forced? It feels like Yvon was forced instead, but seeing how clingy the alpha was, I think it was mutual. "No, they are mates."

"Then it's okay."

He put me inside the car, put my seatbelt on, kissed me on the lips, and asked, "Why are you sad?"

"Hydro was attracted to Luma. I can't get him to go home." No, it was because I'm not your mate. There was no reaction when we met for the first time.
