Sophie:
I sprinted towards Keefe, almost slipping on the treacherous ice surrounding him. Not a great start.
As I reached out to grab his hand, a jolt of icy shock shot through me. Looks like his abilities were combining a bit too. Well that's fantastic.
"I'm such an idiot," he murmured, keeping his eyes shut tight.
"You were overwhelmed and angry. The council shouldn't have pushed you so soon after gaining your abilities," I consoled him.
"But I shouldn't have let it get to me," his eyes slowly fluttered open, revealing a mix of self doubt and vulnerability as he winced at the ice around him. "I'm acting like such a wimp."
"Stop. Your dealing with it the best you can. You've been so-" I whack him "stop shaking your head at me. Listen. You are going through so many things all at once, this isn't your fault."
He only nods at me, obviously not believing me.
"Could you move please?" A lady was giving us a rude look. "I need to clear this ice."
I glare at her. If looks could kill she would have disintegrated into a pile of sparkly alicorn dust.
We walk over to the seats and I sit him down gently."The final verdict will be announced in exactly 5 minutes." A voice announced.
Keefe sucked in a shaky breath. His phaser ability started acting up and his hand went straight through mine. My heart races but he can feel my emotions, I need to stay calm.
I lean in, planting a small, gentle kiss on his temple.
"I'm fine."
I roll my eyes. "I'm offended you expect me to believe that."
"I can't even hold your hand." His voice is so filled with raw emotion, that I need to remember to breathe.
"You can."
"It goes straight through Foster."
"If you calm down it won't."
"I can't calm down."
I grab his hand. "You can."
"If we could have everyone's attention please," Brontes booming voice echoed throughout the building
"after a quick discussion, we have decided that Lord Cassius Sencen will be stripped of his lordship and sentenced to 140,000 years in exile without the possibility of appeal for a shorter sentence.""Take him away please." He was seized with an iron grip and dragged away by the goblin guards. 140,000 years was more years than I could even comprehend but when I looked at everyone's expression I could tell they all thought it would be a lot more.
"Thank you all for coming, please make your way out at the two exits on either your right or left. Have a good rest of your day everyone."
Seriously? Do they really think I'm gonna have a good rest of my day?
I look towards Keefe's trembling figure.
Screw the council.
