Sophie POV:
I grab Keefe's hand, "wait."
He turned around confused, "you don't want to go to lunch?"
"Well, yeah but..."
I take a step closer, "I've just been dying to talk to you all day. I thought you were coming over this morning?"
He grinned sheepishly, "I might've accidently slept in."
I want to keep talking forever, but I also want more. "I'll have to ask Elwin if you were pining for me."
The corner of his eyes crinkle, "oh I wasn't definitely pining for you, it sorta cramps my style."
I try to fake pout, but I can't pull it off, "really? So you don't mind if I ask Elwin?"
He raised his hands in mock surrender, "fine, I'll admit it. I was of course pining for the lovely lady Foster."
It starts to get a little hard to breathe, "Well, that was fast. Never thought you'd admit to anything." I giggled.
"What can I say? I'm nothing if not honest and consistent." His eyes go soft as he pulls me closer, which I didn't think was possible. I thought I'd eliminated all the space between us already. "Sophie. Can I-"
"Yes." Before he can say anything else, I press my lips to his. My arms wind around his neck, and his hands grip me more tightly, lifting me off my feet as the kiss deepens. Instantly I'm breathless. Keefe doesn't just kiss me like someone who's wanted to for years.
He kisses me like it's the only thing he's ever wanted.
"Mr. Sencen! Ms. Foster! What do you think you're doing?!" Lady Galvin shrieked.
We jumped apart, faces bright red.
"There's a time and a place for everything. Public displays of affection are not welcomed in the school hallways." She huffs disapprovingly and continues down the hall, leaving us alone again. The moment she's out of earshot, Keefe bursts into laughter, and I can't help but join in.
"Guess we're making a name for ourselves," Keefe says, smirking.
I roll my eyes playfully, "I'm pretty sure we've already made a name for ourselves."
Keefe blushes cutely as I kiss his cheek softly, "let's go to lunch."
"Where were you guys?" Biana smirked, as they slid in beside their friends.
"Oh y'know," I reply awkwardly, "Lady Galvin."
Keefe burst into a fit of laughter, "Guess we need to be more discreet." Earning him laughter and a sassy eyeroll from Tam.
My eyes involuntarily meet Keefe's across the table. I feel a rush of happiness that seems to warm my whole body, his eyes sparkle with amusement, and a small, knowing smile plays on his lips and I can't help but return his smile.
Everything just seems perfect when I'm with him.
