IT WAS DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD SEND A MISSIONARY FIRST. One last attempt at peace with Joffrey before the inevitable happened, and Daenerys Targaryen marched upon King's Landing with the Northerners, the Unsullied, and a dragons.
Daenerys had decided that she would send Missandei for this task, her most trusted advisor and friend to finally negotiate peace with the King in the South.
Missandei promised to be back in a few days time, so until then everyone had to wait for the answer that would change everything.
In the meantime, Rhaenerys was disappointed when everyone at the council also agreed that she should stay behind with Rhaegar for her protection. She was now close to eight moons pregnant and Robb did not want to risk anything, and neither did Daenerys.
Despite Rhaenerys protesting that all she had to do was stay atop of her dragon, her aunt still forbid it, and so it was decided.
When war came, and it would one way or another, Rhaenerys would be staying behind with the rest of the women and children, under the protection of one dragon, a dire wolf, a few Unsullied, and a few North men.
The men chosen were the soldiers that Robb felt like he trusted the most, so despite the animosity Rhaenerys wasn't worried about their loyalty. What she did worry about was Robb, and not being able to be with her husband when the fighting began.
She wanted to protect him, but Robb insisted that he didn't need protection.
"I have fought in the face of death before and won; this time shall be no different," He reassured her as they sat by the water.
Both Robb and Rhaenerys were watching the waves upon a cliff on Dragonstone, both needing a break from politics.
It was a nice way to get some fresh air, and Rhaenerys breathed it in as she gave him a look.
"You know what I mean, husband," She lightly shoved his shoulder with her own. "I only mean that I wish I could be there to help you, with a dragon, to ensure your safety."
"I won't need assurance," Robb said like the young man that he was. "I will be fine. Nothing is going to happen to me, my love." Rhaenerys rolled her eyes at his slight arrogance. "And besides, if you wish for a dragon to protect me then I can always take Rhaegar and fly him myself."
At this, Rhaenerys couldn't help the laugh that came pouring from her lips. She giggled, and Robb looked confused as to why she was laughing so hard at his idea.
"What?" The young wolf defended himself, chuckling lightly. "Do you not think that I would make a formidable dragon rider?"
"I think that you would make a dead dragon rider if you tried to mount Rhaegar," Rhaenerys snorted. When Robb looked at her, utterly confused, she explained. "When a dragon and a rider bond, that means that the dragon will not allow another rider until the one who claimed them is dead. And if another tries to mount the dragon while their rider is still alive, then usually the dragon eats them or throws them off."
