DRAGONS WERE NOT WELCOME IN WINTERFELL. That was the first thing Robb noticed, and the second was that their mother wasn't welcome, either.

It had been two days since he had flown in on a dragon and nearly scared his people half to death. Two days since the fight, and then one day later Rhaenerys had fainted.

When she did, Robb had never been so scared in his life. To watch his wife nearly fall off her dragon was a terrifying experience, especially because no one could quite tell him the reason.

All of the maesters that he talked to said that it was probably from exhaustion, but that wasn't good enough for Robb. He wanted to know more but it seemed no one could quite tell why Rhaenerys wasn't waking up.

Nevertheless, he stayed by her side the entire time she was asleep. He only ever left to use the restroom or to go check on Grey Wind. Other than that, no one could tear him away from her, not even when his parents finally arrived back in Winterfell.

When Catelyn and Ned Stark came riding in one morning, their faces were filled with nothing but grief and sorrow. The Warden of the North looked more exhausted and run down than anyone had ever seen him. Soon after their children had rushed to them, all except for Robb, the reason was revealed.

"King Robert is dead," Ned had announced, "He was killed during the chaos of the Dothraki challenge. One of the warriors pierced him with his spear, and for the second and final time, Robert was stabbed in the stomach. Only this time, he did not make it."

Upon hearing the news, many people—including the noble Starks grieved—and became worried for what that would mean for them.

Catelyn wasn't one hundred percent sure, but she knew that it would be nothing good. She knew ever since the moment she laid eyes on Rhaenerys that that girl was nothing good. She had brought nothing but pain—and now death—to those closest to her. And now, Robert's death was one that would probably result in their own.

Joffrey had already been placed on the throne. Ned and Catelyn were lucky to escape right after Robert's funeral. If they had stayed, surely, neither one would be alive at the moment, for they had actively aided and abetted an enemy of the crown and Joffrey did not take that lightly.

Already, on the same day they arrived, there was a letter waiting for Ned Stark and his wife. A Royal decree from Joffrey Baratheon, now King of the Seven Kingdoms.

It was a decree that stated Ned, his wife and his eldest son were found guilty of aiding their enemies. There was a bounty on their heads and they were to turn themselves in to be executed.

Ned kept the letter to himself, and only discussed the matter with Catelyn, who was sick to her stomach. She immediately wanted to see Robb, and when she learned where her oldest was it made her even sicker.

To walk into a room in her house and to see Rhaenerys Targaryen lying there caused enough anger to last Catelyn a lifetime. She wanted to scream; she wanted to shout, and she wanted to wring Robb's neck for even thinking about bringing her there.

One look at her first born though, and all those emotions went out of the window.

As soon as Catelyn saw Robb's grief stricken face, obviously affected by Rhaenerys' mysterious slumber, all of that anger that she harbored evaporated and Catelyn immediately rushed to her son.

"Mother," Robb sobbed out, and it did not take him long for him to embrace her, thanking every God that
she and his father were still alive. "I did not expect you back so soon, if at all. I—I thought—"

"You though me dead," Catelyn finished Robb's sentence. He nodded.

"I thought Joffrey would have come for us all by now. I—I heard about King Robert. It is my deepest regret that I could not be there for father while he mourned him. I know that father thought of Robert as a brother, and I cannot help but feel responsible. If not for me, he would be alive and my wife would not be in a slumber. I—I am scared for her mother and I do not know what to do. No maester has been able to help her so far, but I was hoping that maybe your insight as her good mother may be able to help."

Catelyn sucked in a deep breath at Robb's words. She was hesitant as she looked at Rhaenerys, but she could not find it in her heart to deny Robb's request.

Because of this, she sighed and walked over to the small girl. She barely filled out the large bed, and a sweat had broken out on her forehead.

Gently, Catelyn approached her sleeping figure and then pressed a hand to her forehead.

She was burning hot.

Even for a dragon, her temperature was alarming and Catelyn quickly took her hand away. And then she looked back at Robb who was already looking at her expectantly.

"Well?" Her eldest son asked anxiously.

Catelyn felt as if her heart was about to burst out of her chest. She surveyed Rhaenerys' sleeping figure, taking in her flushed cheeks, slightly swollen lips and her expanding nose. She sucked in another breath.

"I am about to ask you something that no mother ever wants to ask," Catelyn turned around, "but I need to know."

"Anything," Robb said desperately. "Anything that may help her, I will let you know."

Catelyn pursed her lips and even though she never wanted to ask her eldest son this, she did it anyways.

"When you lay with her," she trailed off, trying her best not to cringe at her own words, "Do you by any chance release..." Catelyn's cheeks heated up. "Release yourself inside of her?"

It was too painful for Catelyn to even say the words. But luckily Robb was not an idiot and quickly caught onto what his mother was trying to say.

Eyes wide, he began to sputter and his cheeks turned a cherry red. Robb found himself not even being able to look his mother in the eye, but that was okay because Catelyn was not able to either. She only had to look in his general direction. And when he gave her a nod, Catelyn's suspicion were confirmed.

Walking over to Rhaenerys once again, she looked at the covers briefly before she pulled them down. Robb started to protest but Catelyn shushed him, doing something that made her heart sink to her feet.

She pressed her hand gently against Rhaenerys Targaryen's stomach, and when she did, she felt two heartbeats instead instead of one.

It was then that Catelyn Stark knew.

Rhaenerys Targaryen was pregnant.
